M14x Order Status Discussion

There seems to be some disconnect between what the website says and where the computer actually is. I remember mine said it was "in production" for about 7 days. When it changed to "shipped" and when I was able to track it, the computer was already in California. It seems to me that the computer shipped way before the website updated. I didn't talk to a rep though.

At least yours is on the way now! You're gonna love it.

Yay it's shipped and will arrive tomorrow. Only 58 more days till I get my hands on it though . Funny how they don't invoice you until after its shipped.

Same here, it was in production for 7 days until I got the e-mail to say it had shipped and it turned out it had shipped 2 days earlier.

 

How long does an order typically take?

 

Yeah guys, I got a call today saying I won't get it tomorrow because there are no delivery's being made, but I find that extremely hard to believe because the shop I bought my T.V. from said the same thing and they said it would take until Friday.. ended up coming 6 hours after I received that phone call on the Wednesday morning.

Anyway, the thing that makes me think I'll get it tomorrow is that the factory that distributes the laptops to couriers is 20km from my house, so we'll see. I'm not complaining, I'm a bit annoyed they screwed me around a few times but the latest I'll get it is Monday which is still earlier then the expected shipping date by a few days..

P.S. Shoulda updated earlier, it's been in "In Transit" for most of today, but it's been listed as Ship From Factory for 3-4 days as I said so I seriously doubt it only just shipped considering the company that Dell uses to distribute to couriers is 20km away from me and that's in Parramatta NSW.

 

Hope it comes tomorrow or before the 25th. At least you have the forum to help keep your sanity until then

I guess it depends on availability of parts and what kinds of updates you do, where you are located. Mine took two weeks to get to me in California.

Damn it. They tried pushing it back to Tuesday again, I said to the rep I'm sick of being screwed around with dates, I was promised I'd get it today, it's been in Australia for 4-5 days and hasn't moved, I just want it today. He understood and was really good, and we've made some progress, it's a half hour drive, and he's going to try and get me after hours / VIP shipping for tonight for no extra charge, gotta love Dell's customer care. I wasn't rude I just tried to explain my situation and don't forget reps are humans people, they understand!!

Ok so, now I wait for feedback from the courier and hopefully my M14x today... I hope.

i am gonna try to talk to a dell rep too today. i canceled my order because i overpaid a little too much, i hope i can get them to refund me the money quickly so i can reorder from their site again.

 

It's being shipped now, so unplugging the desktop .

I ordered an m14x last night to replace my m11x...it stopped working. Won't power on with just the battery, or with the battery taken out and plugged into AC. Given my experience with dead computer hardware before, I think it's safe to say this was a fried board. Arrgh...oh well! Upgrade time! I went with the stock $1099 deal Alienware was offering.

Ironically I ordered it from my old Athlon 2800 XP desktop which is running twin Voodoo 2 cards- that one still works. I'm sore about the m11x though. (Strong Bad voice) *sniff* "I liked that computer!"

 

Hey guys. I have never owned an Alienware computer before. Last summer i custom built my own gaming desktop pc and now with my freshmen year in college coming up i decided to get an Alienware m14x R2 laptop. I order the laptop on the 19th of June and it went into production the next day. It current says it is still in production and i was wondering how long do u think it will be until it arrives. I paid a little bit extra to get the 3-5 day shipping and i live in southern California. :] in case any of you care the specs for the laptop i purchased are below, tell me what you think.

ALSO, can someone tell me what it means by camera software 2.x factory installed. What is that?

Very hard to say if you'll get it in a week, pretty sure I got free next business day shipping as apart of my deal and delivery took longer then manufactoring time.

I would guess around 20 days (including weekends) so two and a half to three weeks. (Although mine came in 12 days, so yeah, you could get it in two weeks, theres always that chance)

 

its no problem. Also good news, it was updated to say it shipped and its at city of industy ca ( which is about an hour from me), the edd on dells website now says the 28th however when look at the tracking info on fedex.com it says edd the 26th. so getting mixed messages but i hope fedex is right and not dell rofl >.>. my gosh i cant wait for it iv always wanted an alienware laptop....

 

I have a random question for those of you who have dealt with Dell's order services.

I had a recent family emergency and might have to go out of town next week
my laptops EDD is 07/06/12 and I ordered it on 06/21/12 with 7 day shipping. So I called the order office and explained my situation and all they told me is that they would move me to priority shipping and that my order is now listed as "Priority".

Has anyone else had a situation like this? Did you receive your laptop that much earlier? I'm just curious because if I leave there won't be anyone home to claim it and I am not sure when I'll be back and I'd really like my laptop

 

hey vkw619 I'd say its entirely possible to get it early, especially if you've been bumped to priority shipping. I ordered my laptop on the 19th of this month and it shipped last night from dell and it says its on the fedex truck scheduled for delivery today. I got the 3-5 day shipping and i didn't make any calls to try and get it expedited or anything so.... But yes I'd say not to worry and it will come soon however if you are really worried you can go to the tracking info on fedex.com and choose for them to hold it on location, not sure how long they will hold it for tho.

 

Well I ordered mine on the 20th and it is ETA for the 10 of July. We will see when it comes in! I have wanted an Alienware sense a friend of mine bought one when we got out of boot camp back in 05. Lol he bought an Alienware and I bought a motorcycle. The computer would have been safer...

 

Orderd june 19th. checked this afternoon status has been updated to shipped!! anyone have any idea how quickly it takes to get a tracking number to show up??

I'm just going to have Dell ship it to my work address. We have a dock and I can sign for it easily. Then I can hide it under my desk mwahahaha!
I've been console gaming while I wait. L.A. Noire on the PS3 and Midway's The Suffering on PS2. The latter is one of my fav. horror games, still scares the crap out of me.

 

I've been playing some FO3 and MW3 on my PS3 while waiting. Sadly I don't think I'm going to receive it when I was hoping. I received an email stating it won't be shipped out till mid next week

What was your EDD?
Maybe that can help me determine a better idea of timing?

 

Got my Razer Blade today, but I'm more excited about my Alienware. Too bad it's still in production. :'(

Did you get your shipping info quickly? Did dell say it had shipped or was it always listed as "In Processing" until it actually arrived at your door?

 

Mine shipped on the 29th! FedEx estimates I may get it on the 3rd. I think I have to work overtime that day and I had Dell ship it there (my dad works in shipping.) Now all I need are fireworks. MO has some pretty lenient fireworks laws, my neighbors are blasting them tonight already.

 

If you don't mind me asking did you go through the DPP? Because I still can't quite figure out why mine hasn't shipped yet. And so far I believe that is the only variable difference.

 

Yah I got my shipping ID and dell said it shipped about 1.5 hours before it was at my door.

 

I'm not sure...I ordered it via Alienware.com, would that have some effect? It took it about a week to go from "In Production" to "Shipped" under the status of my order. I didn't get any kind of extended warranty or anything and it's my 2nd laptop purchase from them, other than my m11x. I also work for a company that purchases a major amount of Dell products to in our office, so maybe they looked my name up. Mine shipped Friday and FedEx called to tell me it should arrive tomorrow. Woot!

I also happened to get a vintage 3dfx Voodoo 1 in the mail today, that should tide me over. I need to stop buying so many Voodoo cards...lol

 

Officially a M14r2 owner!!!!!!! Ordered on the 5th of July and now it in production!!!!! Hopefully can get it by 15th of July as my frd will be heading back to Singapore to bring it back to me

Mine just completed production! EDD is on the 12th of July!! So I should be able to get it by the 17th of July since my frd is going to bring back for me from Singapore when he returns from his holiday!

Btw, anyone can advise what is the must have programs for this monsters? wants to starts downloading the programs before the laptop arrived so that I can start playing!

 

One more day and I will receive the m14x r2. I work tomorrow so will be playing around with it after work once I get off. I might get to work with it during lunch if I have a later lunch. It is coming via Fedex ground and should receive it by mid day.
