Hmmm... it's odd that you would give up so easily if the product was something you really wanted in the first place. You must realize that it's like a shark feeding frenzy and I am sure they are being flooded with calls for new orders for the just-released latest and greatest gaming laptops on the planet.

So, now what? Settle for an inferior product?

The link Voodooi posted should prove helpful.

Ordered my m14x three days ago (on the Friday 4th), and feel like I want to refresh the order status page until it finally gets here!

    Status: In-Production
    Estimated Delivery Date: 31/5/2012

How long does it normally take "In Production"? How long did it take for everyone else here?

I think it depends on how much you have customised your laptop, base models will probably be shipped faster! I think my laptop was in production just under 2 weeks then got shipped!

"256 SSD", what RAID did you get with that or were you able to get a single 256gig SSD?

Yes, they did. And I'm sending back a 2 week old R1 with a 256gb SSD, but can't get it on the new one. Oh well, the RAID0 512gb setup should be snappy, just twice as expensive.

Good that your able to return your r1, i think the r2 is a nice improvement!
Yeh its been kerazee the past few weeks with dells ways of introducing ivy bridge and the 2012 refreshes...
I had to cancel my original m14xr1 order as one week later the r2 was released!

In my experience the reps dont know nothing...they just read their scripts and do as they are told =/
I could ring up now and they would tell me my laptop will arrive with sandy bridge because i ordered it before ivy bridge was released on the uk site and that the uk isnt doing the automatic upgrade, my invoice says they are wrong xD!

Ordered a M14X R2 on April 29th with a EDD of June 1st. I contacted @DellCares to ask for a more detailed order status update. I have been informed that it is now in its final stage and waiting on shipping and tracking. I can't wait to get this thing!

I called them up to ask how my order was going since the online order status webpage is very uninformative. They said that unfortunately my order was delayed, possibly due to a shortage in parts. They would not mention how long it would remain delayed for. I requested them to expedite my order, and they said that they'll try to do it and get back to me soon. Seeing the way things are, I probably won't be receiving my m14x before the June 6th.

Talked with a rep on Twitter today/last night and they're telling me it's "getting ready to be shipped to our Carrier but we're trying to hear back from logistics about it" which I think translates to "I have no clue where it is, but last I can see is that it's in Boxing stage".

Had my closet flood on Sunday night, and my good friend/neighbor's apartment flooded (it was raining from the ceiling everywhere. Scary scary stuff at midnight.) at the same time. I could use some new laptop happiness right about now. :(

I did try calling Dell last week at some point, and the automatic system only told me it's "Processing" which didn't seem right to me. I'll try calling again and see what it says. The order status web page says "In Production".

Edit: Oooo-kay, the automated system says "It was shipped May 23rd and should be received by May 29th" - don't tell me that they HAVE IT and are HOLDING ONTO IT for two freaking WEEKS just to spite me? I ordered April 25th dangit! >.<

If anyone has AAFES account, there is an extremely good deal today on all AW. I went with M17x R4, but I just prices M14x R2 with following spec:
    for $621.75 shipped.
    Can't beat that.

That's funny. I talked to my wife and she agreed that for this price she'd like to have M14x. So I ended up ordering M17x for myself and smaller version for her.

I ordered mine yesterday with the following spec's.

    M14x R2
    i7-3610QM
    12GB 1600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM
    256GB Solid State Drive
    Blu-ray BD-ROM / DVD +/-RW Combo Drive
    2 GB GDDR5 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R)GT 650M
    Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64bit
Stealth Black with Soft Touch Finish
Extra 150W Primary AC Adapter (To leave at home)
Bose COMPANION 2 Series II Multimedia Speakers

Delivery is noted as before 29 May.

Total came to AUD$2382.50 (USD$2418.71), quite disheartening when I see the prices you guys are paying.

Wow, looks like Aussie consumers are getting screwed again. 2 days ago you could have gotten a 512GB SSD for the same price, albeit with a DVD drive instead of Blu-ray.

Dell must've realised that they weren't gouging enough, so decided to downgrade the 512GB SSD to 256GB, while upgrading the DVD to Blue-ray (but who uses optical drives now anyway?).

My obsession with refreshing the online order status page has finally paid off - it's marked as Shipped with a tracking number, going to arrive tomorrow via Fedex.

Haven't received any emails about it, and my card hasn't been charged yet either, which I find odd, but that's okay - I'll be getting my first Alienware tomorrow! So excited. :)

Would've been cheaper with 6Gb RAM and 650M 1Gb instead of 2Gb. Ram can be upgraded easily, and you shouldn't see any real difference between 1Gb and 2Gb 650M.

No decent discounts for the regular folks. I called and even with EPP only 5 percent discount. Even being a current m14xr1 owner it really made no difference at all. Depressing!

Yes it would have, though with the pricing they've put together over here it made sense to go with the 12GB RAM, however we don't have a choice on the GPU.

EDIT: Just checked my status page. YIKES! It shipped today! I only placed the order on May 5th! It didn't get fully processed till the 7th due to my bank witholding payment. Surely this can't be correct? The courier tracking ID isn't working yet as it's only just been generated.

    Am I dreaming? :O

They didn't inform me it was being shipped. So for me definitely a big surprise. :D

Although the UPS site says "A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

So maybe they haven't even built it yet haha, just got a UPS label printed up.

Mine showed 'shipped' on the order status several hours before I received the Dell email about it being shipped. On the tracking though, it told me that Dell sent info about the laptop 3 days before Fedex even picked it up, and it wasn't until the day after Fedex had it in their hands that it was sent on its' way to me.

According to the tracker, mine is on the truck and out for delivery. Just gotta be patient... sometime between 9am (in about 10 minutes) and 8pm it'll be delivered.... gotta be patient.... haha!
