    Yeah I know it's amazing! :D

From the payment being successfully taken to delivery will be just 7 days if it turns up on time! In all my days I've never got a machine from Dell so quick - and the fact that it's my first Alienware just makes it even sweeter.

    I'll be seeing y'all in BF3 sooner than I thought. :D

Got mine! Whee! Though the speakers aren't working when I play music or youtube. Hmmm. They were working originally with the windows default sounds, which I immediately disabled, but now I can't hear anything through it.

How strange. Granted, this is my first windows 7, so that might be some of it. I'll poke around and maybe I'll figure it out myself. :)

Edit: I figured it out, had to dig around to find the sound blaster control panel, once I opened it and fiddled it worked. :)

Congrats! Have you escaped any evil duff pixels?

Mine is still making its way to me. Yesterday it was in Shanghai, China. Then Incheon, South Korea. Now it's somewhere in Kazakhstan lol. It's going round the houses! :D

    Oh Yeah !

I received an e-mail 2 hours ago stating that my order has been shipped yesterday :).

I hope I won't have any issues with it, seeing all these dead pixel/speaker/lighting problems :S

No dead pixels, or any other issues. First thing I did when I booted was checked *everything* to make sure it worked. Did have windows fail to boot at first try, but when I retried again it was fine. :)

Was playing Skyrim last night (don't have frapps installed, so can't tell you fps, but it was very smooth with no stuttering) on the battery, with ultra high settings, windowed so I could see the temps.... never went above 68C, and generally stayed in the low 50s. Not bad, not bad at all, my husband is insanely jealous. ^^

Whoop whoop! Another M14xR2 on the way. :D

Hurrah for no dead pixels. I hope I'm just as lucky! :)

BTW you can show FPS in Skyrim without frapps - just open the console (tilde key) and type 'ToggleDebugText' or 'tdt' and it should give you a more accurate FPS count than frapps anyway. ;)

Actually, that doesn't work in Skyrim. Which is a pity, guess I'll have to install frapps, just because I'm curious. Supposedly if you aren't using video capture it doesn't lower the fps TOO much. :)

Lowest I got was mid 30s, and that was when there was TONS of water/fire on the screen. Generally I was in mid 40s to high 50s. Hit 60s quite easily as well, if water wasn't on the screen. x)

Runs cool as well. CPU was in the 55-65C range, with a couple peaks to 70C before the fans turned on until it got down to the low end. GPU ran in the 60s, I think it peaked at 68C.

And I was playing for 3-4 hours straight. Not bad, not bad at all. :)

Oh yeah, and this was fullscreen rather than windowed, I was having mouse issues with it windowed.

My order status is still "In Production" even though I ordered mine before you guys (on the 4th) :(. How can I follow up?

    Grats!

Glad to report everything is working fine! Started up fine, making no noise at all. Recovery USB media made. Now downloading BF3! :D

15 gigs to download though! So even at an impressive 4mb/s it'll take awhile! But still, the laptop is soooo pretty to look at. AlienFX all glowy purple right now. XD

EDIT: No dead pixels. Lights, speakers and mic working fine. Only thing I don't like are the i7 and Windows stickers being on the lower-right of the palm rest (spotted already by guys receiving theirs). The stickers aren't straight either - but that's just extra incentive to remove them sooner. :)

Awww. Yeah I got totally lucky with the speed of build and delivery. 7 days

Did you get any rep's email address? I had one that I was talking to after I had a hitch with the initial payment. She kept me informed throughout - not sure if she pushed things ahead because of the initial problems (evene though they weren't Dell's fault).

Well, you got to make sure you call and actually talk to a sale's person

Then just play the hard to get role.. say well you'll have to think about it.. wait a couple days. call back and tell them it's to much money and see what they can do.

Sometimes its in who you get. So if you get someone who isn't helping just call back and get a new sales person.

Anxiously waiting for mine. I ordered it last night and it's marked as in production. Hopefully I get lucky and get it in a week.

Edit: Does anybody have FPS stats for BF3/CoD on the M14x with 650M?

Thanks mate! How did you get the stickers off so you could reapply them?

Things so far are going swimmingly - apart from BF3. :S About 30 secs to 1 minute in each multiplayer game I lose connection. Definitely not an issue with my M14 after extensive research, but I've done all I can to try and sort it. Am at a friends now so hopefully it'll work ok from my broadband and maybe they just have a naff router (it's netgear, so yeah it's bad).

I have spent hours opening ports, disabling UpnP and gawd-knows what else but still no dice. Shame. It runs well for those 30 secs! :D

I ordered mine on May 8th at 5pm est and it just switched to "Shipped" about 3 hours ago but no shipping info was posted. If it holds true to the next day shipping option that would be 8 days total. My EDD still says May 31st though lol.

My EDD says June 5 and it's on FedEx truck to be delivered today. So EDD seems to be as accurate as weather prediction one week from now.

    Update:
Ordered May 8th, shipped May 15th, arrived May 16th afternoon. Standard delivery, California.

I waited a couple more days.. And called back once the order was procssed and added the 3 year warranty (Seeing the AlienwareFX control board just went out in my M17x) Added the warranty to my M17x, MS Office and the M14x Orion backpack.. this is how i did.

    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
    14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
2 GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForceGT 650M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
    750GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
    32G mSATA caching SSD
    Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
Intel Advanced-N WiFi Link 6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax and Bluetooth 4.0
    3 year basic warranty
    Microsoft Office Student
    Orion Backpack
    1 year M17x warranty renewal

    m14x $1,974
warranty $225 (ball parked as we cant add this until it generates a service tag)
    Backpack$99
    Office $124
    M17x Warranty $300
    ------------------------------
    $2,722
    -$675 Discount
    -------------------------------
    $2,047 Total

So the total went up about $600, But I added Around $800 in stuff.. and This fixes the AFX on my m17x... as the control board for that cost about $600!!

I guess the trick to getting higher discounts is place separate orders..
Or so I was told by the rep!

If this helps any of you save a buck +REP!

I hope everyone does better on their prices by reading this.

    Ordered mine May 7th.

    EDD 31st of May :(

Called Dell on the 16th and asked if they could do anything to speed things up. After 15 minutes with supervisors they changed my shipping from 2 day to next day.

    New EDD May 29th.

Anyone think it will be here early? Boy waiting on one of these sucks. First post on the forums I'm new around here :D

My order shipped last Thursday, it has been sitting in a warehouse in Australia for almost on a week without progressing.

I called up yesterday to find out what's going on, as usually once it hits the local warehouse I see the item the next day. I'm told that the delay is due to a set of complementary speakers which they don't currently have in stock my order has been placed on hold.

The frustration is that I never asked, nor did I order the speakers, I simply ordered the notebook and asked for the order to be released and I'm happy to forfeit the speakers. Overnight the EDD changed to May 24 (next Thursday), it was originally today ..... as you can imagine I'm not at all impressed.

I ordered mine 13th of May, EDD is 29th May. If you customize the laptop a lot (if they have to wait on parts like the bluray player etc.) it might take longer I guess.

As they say, squeaky wheel gets the oil...... I kicked up a fuss and what do you know my M14x was delivered this afternoon just after 5pm.

Well, I hope that it's worth all the complaining Bolders. Hope you post some pics and specs.
I checked my order this morning only to see that it was cancelled. Then realised that was the old email not the updated one. I stressed myself out.

Bolders - how long was your box in production?

It's 5 days and counting now for me; squeaky bum time

I'm impatient, so waiting isn't one of my strong suits. Having said that, I initially thought the wait would have been a fair bit more than it was. My spec's were posted a couple of pages back. First thing I did before even powering up was to remove the Blu-ray and install a second HDD - seems a waste but seeing as it came standard on my build I don't feel too bad.

Apart from the stuff-around getting it delivered the order flew.

Seems like patience isn't a strong suit for many of us! Still 'In Production' for me. I assumed average building time took 8 days. Guess I'll have to wait til Monday to see if there is any change. Congrats on its arrival Bolders. 10 days really does seem pretty quick!
