M14x Order Status Discussion

Well I gotta say im pretty Jealous. I ordered mine 3/24/12 with the same EDD (4/5/12) and mine has been "In Production" since 3/23/12 lol

Funny Thing happened Thursday afternoon though... Dell called me at Work and (save a few details) the call went like this..

"Hi im this is Dell customer service I just wanted to call and confirm your order with us. Im seeing that it should be out to you on Wednesday...now while we're talking I just want you to know that I am expediting your order and making sure that you get it on time. I am not seeing that it is completely built but it could still ship out over the weekend. Ill give you a call back on Tuesday to check on the status of your order, thanks."

So we shall see what happens I guess!

ALSO it should be noted that I paid using Paypal. No one ever posts payment method and I was just seeing if there was a noticeable difference. Since I paid the $25 for overnight I hope it ships today.

 

Tried contacting support to inquire about my production status. It's listed as in production still, but the rep said it had been shipped to the carrier. oO;

 

Ok according to the USPS Track and Confirm my package is in New Zealand and the "Custom Clearance" has appeared twice now. Does anyone know what that means?

I havent had any kind of luck. I wish they would actually give you the production stage its in (kitting,building,testing,boxing,shipping) But all it says online is In Production. I HOPE it ships today but the funny thing is, ive been waiting all this time in anticipation and the day its scheduled to be here.....ill be out of town! Thats my life lol Im just glad my dad will be there to accept it for me.

Also, the automated system sucks. Everytime I call it to check my status its just says "Order is processing) whomp whomp whomp

Im assuming that they check it twice. Once when it arrives and then again when its about to leave. That makes sense with it being an international shipment. They like to be thorough with these things.

 

Well I contacted them again today. They finally gave me a 50$ credit on my order and said that it should be shipping in the next 24-72 hours.. though it's still listed as in production. We'll see XD

 

Just checked my voicemail. Dell rep called yesterday to tell me my order is late because they were experiencing a part shortage on something but its not delayed AS OF RIGHT NOW (wth?) and if it goes past my EDD (which is TOMORROW the 5th) I will receive an email from Dell letting me know its delayed. . lol

Not too big of a deal seeing as how Ill be out of town until late tomorrow night but I hope hope hope its here on Friday. I cant go another full weekend waiting. Its taking all the excitement out of me getting my first Alienware =(

 

I got a call from them today saying mine would ship out within a day or two (that's what I was told yesterday too though...). So hopefully yours will get shipped soon King!

My status is shipped, but I have no tracking info yet. -stalks the dell site-

 

So my order status finally says 'Shipped'. I didn't get any emails for the tracking info yet and as opposed to giving me an EDD it says 'Order Shipped'. When it was still in the Production stages the EDD was April 13. Hopefully I get it a day or two earlier

 

Mine should arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited XD!

 

hahahahaha. I was supposed to get my M14x today but due to it being Good Friday my package didn't arrive :'(. Hopefully I'll receive the laptop early tomorrow morning so i can tinker around with the laptop before work.

 

Got a call Wednesday afternoon...My order was delayed due to a shortage on wireless cards (Got the Killer) Got an email with a new EDD of 12 APR 2012. They rep told me it could be anytime though even an overnight thing, they just dont know when they could come in =( HOPEFULLY (i say that alot lol) It will FOR SURE come NLT the 12th. Kinda bummed but ive officially moved into the acceptance phase and im just gonna be patient. I want to just forget all about it now and be surprised when it shows up on my step one day lol

The plus side though is they waived the overnight charge so Next day shipping is free now. The rep told me he would be proactive and inform me anytime he sees a change. The customer service has been pretty good so far. Maybe they can work some more discounts for me

 

Ordered mine last week, Thursday 5th April - received a confirmation saying expected delivery was 27th April. Just received another email to say my m14x is shipping and is expected to be with me by 13th April. Pretty quick turnaround I thought - didn't even see it hit production status, and I did customise it a little (1600x900 screen, 256Gb SSD, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, 6Gb and for some reason, order appeared with 3Gb GPU mem although I didn't specify that after reading these forums).

Looking forward to seeing how well it performs compared to my current Acer 3820TG with the i5-480M and Radeon 6550M.

 

FINALLY got mine shipped! Just received an email earlier stating it was picked up in Nashville, TN! I will finally be enjoying my M14x TOMORROW!!

 

Well that's is unfair! I placed my order for my m14x on last Tues the 3rd with an expected delivery date (upgraded to 2 day shipping) of the 18th and it's been In Production since about 2 hours after I placed the order and still says the 18th.
Only customized a little with the screen and added bluetooth... I miss the days when Dell would ship even customized computers quickly!

Super... I just got a voicemail from Dell saying that the Nebula Red option is not available... So basically they've had my order for 9 days and done nothing at all with it and now tell me that I can only have the black version.
Trying not to hate on Dell/Alienware here but man - they suck

What year is this? I placed the order online but now that changes need to be made I have to talk to a Dell rep on the phone to complete the changes? Maybe their computers could be even cheaper if they didn't waste time and resources like this. So far the only notebook vendor I have consistently good experiences with is IBM/Lonovo, I really hope the M14x is worth all this!

 

Yeah well it took two weeks of "In Production" before they let me know that they didnt have the wireless card I ordered. So are they saying that they just dont have Nebula Red where its being built or that its completely off the table as an option???

I hear it is worth it btw. Ill be reporting on that more tomorrow =D

 

If you do talk to a rep, tell them you are not atall satisfied with the service, you might get some compensation =)
You would think the service would be good for the pricetag of these laptops, I ordered my m14x a week ago and it's still in pre production! The expected delivery date is 4th of may, i hope they are joking lol xD

The rep said that the Nebula Red won't be an option any more - I assume they're clearing out in prep for the R2...
I made it clear I was unhappy - especially when my estimated delivery was pushed to 4/26. They spent 9 days doing nothing on it and now I'm at the back of the line... and I have to get black which is alright but this is an Alienware, I wanted the flashy red case...

The only compensation I received was free overnight shipping - but they said they're giving that to everyone who ordered the M14x in red...

 

Update: Didn't arrive today - UPS shows tomorrow but it's taken a hell of a route.. from Shanghai, China to Incheon, Korea to Almaty,Kazakhstan to Warsaw,Poland to Cologne, Germany to Castle Donnington,England and up to Edinburgh in Scotland (about 70 miles from here). Hope it sent postcards from each stop

 

Well, put in the order yesterday after much consideration I had to go with the 14xr2, I had the m11x, which was perfect for travel, but time for an improvement. No update to the order yet, I am sure I wont see it even processed till monday. Just curious, its been a while since I had ordered from Alienware. My EDD is the 18th. Its being shipped to an APO address, I was hoping it would get there by the 30th. Any guesses?

 

I can remember when I ordered my m15x it took them around 3 weeks to get it to me. My m14xr2 I just ordered on April 20th says it wont get to me until may 25th? I'm not real sure what the hold up is (hopefully ivybridge lol ).

 

Your lucky, my order is processing. when I pushed the order button EDD was may 18th, now its June 19th. Not going to wait 2 months, cant really.

 

Wow! When I talked to the sales Rep he seemed concerned about how long it was going to take but he said some may ship early. If it is in fact BC of ivybridge then I don't mind waiting until the 25th. But June 19th is crazy. Now I'm going to be checking my order status constantly.

 

That's my first quote on the order status page, so yours shouldnt shift. Plus mine is shipping to APO. If they factored that in then judging by the date, they are shipping by boat I guess lol. If it was mil air then it would only take max a week after the original EDD (thats what I planned on). I get I may be getting the new setup, but Ill be in another country by the time it reaches my home station lol

 

Ahhh yeah the joys of APO LOL I know how that can be. I had to spend sometime at camp kc in Korea shipping is always a blast to say the least. Hopefully the new rig gets to you sooner then expected. Maybe you can Call the sales team and let them know your situation and see if there's anything they can do? Keep us posted.

We know your pain. mine was ordered April 20th and I have the same ship date as you(my preliminary said the 25th though) the waiting is always the hard part LOL. Looks like you have a pretty good build. I really wanted to try a SSD but not at the. price dell is offering them.

 

yea figured i would wait on the ssd. cheaper for me to upgrade on my own ne ways. still sad... i want my S#@&!!!!

They came back and said that the date they quoted was correct, and they add 6-8 weeks as soon as they see APO. I may be going with Xoticpc. they have a really good reputation and can deliver to an APO within 2-3 weeks.

But im talking to their sales reps now, and I am going to see. If my deployment got bumped then I may hold out for Alienware, But at their prices it may just be worth the switch to Xotic for this buy. Thinking carefully on this one.

 

Yeah its a lot of coin that's for sure. After seeing my m14 options I opted to change the order to the m17x. The m14 is great until you check a lot of options LOL. Anyway I got the m17x for just a little more and I put the order in on the 25th of april EDD didn't change one bit. Ill have to look at xotic because I'm not that familiar with them. Stay safe down range devil dog.

 

I am returing my m14x today via fed-ex. They are gonna credit me in full and then I am going to place my order for the R2. I wont see that thing for like 6 weeks.

You are aware that 2GB will not increase game performance, eh? It will act the same as the 1GB will act. It's a cash-grab tactic by Dell for the uninformed.

The only benefit it brings is for dual-external-monitors both connected to your M14X.

Save yourself the 100$ unless it's thrown in for free.

 

A question.. so m14x can connect to 2 external monitors via hdmi and vga rite?

Ive just cancelled cancelling my order (if that makes sense), hope it ships with ivy bridge and every uk rep ive spoke to is wrong

Makes complete sense to me! So totally envious that yours is already on the way - please please take pictures and gives us some benchmarks once you get it? No one else has yet, and it makes the waiting just a little easier knowing how awesome the laptop is.

Mine shipped from China to the UK, so if yours is the same it may take a few days. Mine's at the UPS depot for me to pick up in a couple of hours.. so excited!

I'd like to know, along with others the following:

Can you change the alienhead's colour on the lid?
Is the screen different and how?
Better cooling with the new processor and gpu?
What kind of settings can you play on the high end games like skyrim and battlefield 3 ect...?

I am reading that the cooling with the I7 will be no different than the I5 in the R1 because of the area of the processor and its actual size for heat dissipation to the sync. (Im sure the rest of you understand what I mean) However, I cant imagine it getting too hot. Screen is the same if I am not mistaken? Graphics should be able to be ran on ultra like on the R1.
And the alien head on the top is not changable. it is just light from the backlighting of the screen.

 

Really? Even for future gaming you think 1 GB will be sufficient?

 

Yeah and even if more than 1GB is required in the future the GPU will not be fast enough anyway so 2GB is really useless unless you have more that one monitor.

 

Hope you guys both get IB! I'm still too much of a wuss to order one in the UK till it's official, but if I hear you guys screaming for joy I'll order asap!

 

Looks like the uk are finally getting somehwere, their main page talks about 3rd gen processors but doesnt allot you to configure one!

Well when I woke up this morning I had my refund in my Paypal account! Props to Dell Customer Service for expediting my refund for me. They just received the R1 I shipped back Wednesday and I already got my 100% refund back!

Well needless to say people I just ordered my r2 a couple of hours ago and I am so excited. AND not only did the dell Rep I spoke to after placing my order give me free next day shipping he also expedited my order to be built as soon as possible. I love Dell.

I def recommend calling in after placing your order and seeing what they can do for you. They are really helpful.

 

My order was cancelled because of back order, after this I don't think I'll be purchasing alienware anymore.

Sorry to hear man, I dont get how the sales team can provide such poor phone services when they want your money, seems illogical to me.

I could understand them running out, been abit rediculously popular from what Ive seen. Though best of luck with getting somewhere if you still want to.

 

Yeah extremely disappointed atm with Alienware, would be my 2nd purchase from them.
