Just pulled the trigger on a 14x from the outlet with the 20% coupon. $751 before WA tax, free shipping to my BFF, and then he will forward to my military address. All stock as well except I got the upgraded 900p screen. 20% off any Alienware Outlet Laptop coupon here: Linky...

Had to wait days for the right system to pop. Couple weeks ago there were 25 14x's in the outlet. Now it's down to 0, 1, or rarely 2 at a time. Think the coupon expires Feb 1st, but not quite sure...

Just picked one up from the dell outlet. With a mouse and 1 yr complete car it came to 1040.

My only concern is that I am going to regret the i5. How much of a difference is it? Would any of the service people on here be able to get me a similar deal, with an i7 instead?

dunno if you will regret it. depends on what you do with the laptop. I usually only buy top end-ish processors. So the 2760 in mine is a treat. Others here have complained about the heat generated by the i7's in the m14x so maybe i botched it and you will end up avoiding a toaster. dunno for sure. Ive been watching temps and im ok so far....

 

hmm think i got better specs than this and paid for $1476 out the door and got an m17x bag free.. bold and italic specs are the ones that i do not have.

Update:

So, Ive had my m14x for around a week now and I honestly have NOTHING bad to say about it. Absolutely NO issues, glitches or problems...period! Such a great laptop... One of the best purchases Ive made in a long while!

Called to get status update 2/5 because automated system said it shipped on 2/15 lol Found out it was in the ready to ship state and guy said it would ship in 48-72 hours. Just got email that it shipped today from nj, I live in Delaware. With the standard free shipping, FedEx says it will be delivered tomorrow.

One thing to note I called again on 2/6 asking if it's ready to ship what's the hold up, new rep said the information I was given a day prior was false and that it could take a maximum of 10 days to ship. Also said it was not ready, had to be tested blah blah blah, doesnt sound like ready to ship to me. BAM misinformation, supervisor please. Guy told me he would esculate the order and it would go out this week. My dell page still says in process. Got tracking on 2/7 by using order number as reference. Sat at information sent to FedEx until today. Cheers

Hello everyone.. I was following this forum already since some period but finally I decided to buy an Alienware m14x.. Can't wait for it to come, such a cool device!

 

Seems like this thread has died down a bid since the m14x came out lol, understandable. I was doing some digging around today and found out that if your computer is marked as "in production" then that does not only mean that it is being put together but also that it is awaiting pick up by courier. Hence, this may mean that your computer is ready to be shipped but not shipped yet. just thought I would share.

Nice, sounds like you got quite a deal. Im just hoping that 555m will last me for at least a little while, seems like the gpus get outdated too fast, unless you are running a high end gpu.

I actually recently built a new desktop and its been giving me trouble with gaming because there always seemed to be an issue with something with my computer so I constantly had to purchase something new or to fix a problem. daNiifer - Received it about 2 this afternoon. I've got to say that it is really nice overall. I was afraid it would be a bit small but I am used to the 13" MacBook, so it is not too bad. Weight is a little heavy but again not bad. The glossy screen is something I was concerned about but it looks great. I loaded SWTOR and the graphics look nice. Game is running just fine. Next up will be Skyrim. It has been a few years since I have played games on a PC. I think this is going to be a very fun device to have around!! Hope you get your soon. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

 

Well, I finally took a plunge into purchasing the M14 and it recently arrived.

I am VERY pleased with it and it has surpassed my expectations.

It has to be one of the best keyboards/touchpads I have ever used between Asus/MSI/Sager gaming laptops.

I was going to grab an Asus product, but after keeping my laptop for 6 weeks at the repair depot and forcing me to send a 7 day old laptop to the depot because the AC adapter was faulty, I decided to never go with them again - Dell/AW's next-business day support is the reason I chose AW.

I'll list a little review when I get a chance of the pros/cons after using it for a week or so~ Out of all the laptops I've owned, this is the one I've been the most happy with. My only regret is not extending the warranty at the time of purchase.

 

i think you can still buy extended warranty while within your 1 year warranty.

 

Yeah, but the only issue with that is if you add a warranty while in-warranty, the price is more and if you wait until after-warranty, it's even more, hence why I regret it It's 199$ at the time of purchase I believe and Dell is asking 280$. I'll just have to try various reps when I have time and patience

 

Agreed. Besides Lenovo Thinkpads the M14x has the best keyboard on the market.

I am thinking about ordering one, what was the price you got them for??

 

Refurbs on ebay are going with the exact specs are going for 1200$< if you're interested (some with 6GB ram).

 

With the discounts for spending more than $1200 one of them was $1390 and the other was $1250. I have a Dell account so I got a discount for that too. I would have went with more memory but after reading here it makes more sense to buy it for 80 bucks instead of $200 and do it myself.

 

Got 2 m14x laptops on the way but can't stand dell New Zealand my ordered laptops coming from 2 different places and arriving on different dates

 

I just got mine, a replacement from Dell (they replace me my m15x ), it shows a little slow, I remember when I order my m15x was so fast

It will be my first AW computer, and only my second laptop. Upgrading from a 2007 17inch macbook pro.

 

I ordered my M14X yesterday. I got the email saying that my order has been acknowledged. It also said that i'd receive another email confirming my order. It's been nearly 24 hours and still no confirmation email. Does it usually take this long just to confirm an order? I still don't have my order number or estimated delivery date, making the wait for this thing even more painful.

 

I would call dell. I ordered over the phone and the confirmation email came as soon as he put the order in with all estimated dates.

I only received one email from Dell as well confirming my order. The EDD is 4 April and I cannot wait! Its been killing me checking the status everyday.

So it turns outs i messed up with the credit card information, but i got that all sorted out. EDD is the 13th of April. This will be the longest two weeks of my life.

Ordered: 3/24/12
EDD: 4/5/12
Shipped: 3/30/12
And it should be arriving on Monday (Unless FedEx overnight manages a miracle and gets it delivered tomorrow).

Still got a support ticket out about my order but I'm looking forward to getting it.

 

Phew finally. After 40ish grueling days my Alienware M14x is finally in New Zealand. Not yet in my grubby hands but at least i know it's near. After all the hiccups along the way like the wrong color being sent i now know it's soo close.

Just waiting on Custom Clearance which is what the Track and Trace USPS website says, not too sure what that exactly means. I don't remember ever getting that status when i imported before.

I really hope i get lucky and don't have to pay GST or Customs. Or i just hope it doesn't cost too much. Guhh i really want to purchase the Booq Mamba Shift now for my laptop but i want to know if i have to pay any GST/Customs fees before i can splurge on the $150 bag.
