I Ordered Mine on The Epp Site Through NUS, and I Put the company name as my university, it will ship to my address and not the university right ? Because on the Order Confirmation it has the name of the university then my address.

I have the same issue as well, I usually put the university address in my name with the PO box and the address with zip and extension. I hope it works this time as I was fearful that it wouldn't work before, but it did.

Are You Saying The Shipping Address Had your Uni Name but Then Had Your Home Address and It Still Worked ? Because My M14x Is Still in Production and the order Confirmation has My uni Name Followed by my home address ? So Hopefully They'll Deliver To my Address and not the uni.

On the other hand, I believe I did not get your point before. If the university is on there you might confuse them. However, if it is associated under a company buying it.. it might not matter. You may get a conflict of addresses though....

no no, my Name had as follows john smith (duh university #444)
my address line was 5555 blah street... 04920-4567

as long as everything is on the slip it should be fine.. as it has always worked for me... my university address is so darn long that sometimes it wont fit in the address lines they give you + simply putting the zip and extension tells ups or fedex where it is going... that code is the unique identifier to whatever specific (large institution or company etc) and all other information is relevant of course.. i hope that helped.

I use to assume that delivery companies were stupid but as long as its all in there somewhere it will be fine... from experience at least.

I hope that helped.. I feel like I did not answer your question...

Oh Nvm :) my order is shipping

Shucks, I wish it would update. I am a little concerned that my order might not go through as they changed the availability of the 3gb card and what processor you get with that option this week. Hopefully everything goes smooth...

    Hey guys,

I ordered an m14x two days ago and the production time was set to 8 days... But then they tell me it will be delivered the 31st??!! The edd is the 31st as i said but can i rely on the EDD? Plus i chatted with a rep and he told me he would add a rush to my order... is this any good or is it just to make you shutup and wait?!

    Thanks

P.S. Im from Quebec,Canada and ordered from dell Canada.

I've only ordered from them once, but it was within the last month. My M14x arrived almost a week before the EDD. I didn't request a rush, in fact I never talked to a representative at all. I just figured it was smart marketing on their part, the "under promise and over deliver" idea. I have no idea if my experience was typical or the exception.

Also my order was a US delivery in case that makes a difference.

It appears to me that Dell understand this generally unreported tenet of customer service: Under promise, over deliver. By giving a very pessimistic delivery date it is very likely that you will receive it well before, making you happy. If it takes longer then they are covered because they set a pessimistic date, essentially they cover all the bases.

I recently received my order, build time was 3 days, delivery time was 6 days. I took receipt on Monday 17 Oct 2011, estimated was 24 Oct 2011, giving Dell a full weeks leeway! It was shipped from China, I drew up a map form the tracking info:

M14x World Tour - Google Maps

If your item is shipped from China I imagine it would go similar to this.

I ordered mine the 12 of this month, it was in production for 5 days and the shipping was so fast like 1 day and half. My friend will send me the laptop cause I live in Puerto Rico. But the estimated shipping was for the 31st.

the price was $1,528.99 then they have a 170$ discount for a limited time but the tax was about 170$ so all in all it was $1,528.99 with out the discount that they have until the 28th it would be $1,728.99 or so but i think it is a little pet more expensive in canada any way

I have a listed ship date of 11/1/2011 (today) and yet as of 6:00 local time it's status is still listed as "In Production"...Getting worried!

However, my Delivery date is listed as 11/11/2011 for some reason. I don't think that is exactly accurate, as I live fairly close to all three of the production sites (Florida, Texas, Tenn).

Anyone have any experience with this? Is the delivery date deliberately skewed toward a longer delivery?

EDIT- I ordered on 10/26 via phone call. Using standard shipping.

I ordered mine on 10/26 too, but online using 1-day shipping. My order status says 11/8/11, but I got a note on my door yesterday while I was out that FedEx came by, so I had to pick it up at the FedEx place around the block.

I'm looking at my order status on the Dell website right now and it STILL says it is In Production and hasn't shipped. So, in my experience, the Dell order status isn't reliable. :)

That's good to know! I was hoping the delay was simply cosmetic, hopefully they get my tracking number at SOME point before delivery...

By the way, congratz on your order! Hope alienware lives up too all your expectations and then some!

    EDIT:

Just called Dell, my shipping date which was originally listed as Nov. 1st is now the 7th (although it's still the 1st on the order status website). Actual Delivery date is still Nov. 11th, FFFFFFUUUUU...

Normally I wouldn't mind the delay, but I'm going to be leaving very soon for a overseas study abroad trip so this delay has kind of got me in a bind.

    Arghhhhhh!

    Cheers!

Hey fellas, I was using a Dell XPS m1380 w the Core 2 Duo processor and i've been thinking of upgrading for a while, then my dad called me and told me that his laptop died and I decided to give him mine and buy a Macbook Pro 15 inch model. So I was looking online and decided to visit the Dell page before I dropped over 2 G's on the Macbook. Then I looked at Alienware and decided to build the rig for s and giggles. Long story short with the 15% discount and another stackable coupon a $2200 Alienware M14x came out to about $1700 and even though I don't really play games on my computer ( Xbox 360 gamer ), I just coulsnt pass up on the specs that were lookin back at me. Personally I'd drop these two, and if at all possible stick with the default 4G of RAM and simply install it (the 8G) yourself afterwords. I'm a complete PC/upgrading newb and I managed to install the RAM in no time at all, it's remarkably simple.

Also you may want to consider a SSD, assuming you're trying to get max speeds out of your m14x.

    Cheers!

Reason why I ended up choosing more ram and the max memory on the video card is because it was cheaper to pick the more expensive system for me to get the max discount. As far as the ssd goes, 256 gigs is just not enough HD space for me.

Ahh that's understandable, it's really a shame that Dell is taking advantage of people by sort of 'forcing' the 3GB upgrade onto them when it is essentially pointless.

If the 256GB SSD isn't quite enough there is always the option of installing a second hard drive in lieu of the optical drive (that is if you're willing to sacrifice not having it). Obviously there are SSD's that are larger than 256GB, although the price is most defiantly way high.

Although replacing the optical drive is a bit more involved, I can imagine it would be quite nice having Windows and all your essential programs loaded onto an SSD while also having a traditional HD with a boatload of space used as a storage area at the same time.

    At least it's an option! \_( o_O')_/

Yea dude they definately force ppl to upgrade to hit a certain price point to get the biggest discount, which I don't mind but I do agree that the video card " upgrade " is pointless. Although I'm not willing to give up the optical drive its nice to know that this laptop is that customizable!! Thanks.

Oh man sry about that, If I see something relevant I'll definitely let you know.

On the Bright side my laptop has been shipped today!!! FedEx still doesn't have the shipping info, but I reckon the fact that a tracking number has been generated is a good sign. Ordered it last Thursday shipped on Wednesday...So far so good!!!

    I ordered on 31st Oct.

    3rd Nov Manufacturing complete.
4th Nov Ship out from Factory.

Supposed the ETA was on 11th Nov but just now when I checked again, the ETA changed to 22nd Nov !!

Ugh, why is it like that? And the process of delivery shown "Arrived in main hub" since 5th Nov and also changed to 9th Nov, what a delay ...
