ordered 8/1, EDD to US: 8/25 and then another 15-20 days to get here
-
Edit: I received it yesterday btw. I chose the free shipping. -
-
if i call and it says my order is processing does that mean its being built??
-
In production means they are making the laptop. -
-
when i call they say your order is currently being processed. But when i check online it says in production. being built.... im soo confffuuussseeddd
-
Ordered mine on the 8th, EDD is the 25th.
I was told that they were out of Nebula Red chassis so it might be delayed a week or so. -
Lawl, out of red chassis? I ordered on the 10th and ETA is 29th. It's "in production" at the moment.
-
Yeah that's why the lady told me when I ordered it through the phone.
Mine was in production a couple of days after too.
It's Dell customer service so you have to take everything they say with a grain of salt...
Also one of my order status screens says EDD 1/1/0001 lol...
I called and the service rep said it's in the last stage of production and should be shipped in 24-48 hours though.
Here's hoping~ -
ordered on the 10th with next day air, and i try to call to see if i can get more information. And she said estimated delivery date is the 25th.... which i already know. i was hoping it could ship out today then i can get it for tomorrow. but that is most likely not happening
-
Ordered on the 10th. And it says it shipped today
Estimated delivery date is on the 18th.
I got next business air. So im guessing it will come tomorrow. Haunt got the tracking number though -
I ordered on 08/01 and still nothing. EDD 08/25 ... -
really? well when i spoke to the rep i told him i was leaving for college, and i needed it as soon as possible. Mine is on the truck for delivery, im waiting for it as we speak. might do an unboxing
-
Ordered 8/11 expected shipping date was 8/30. I never called but consistently instant chatted Dell support, got a call back yesterday and said I was done being built and would get it in 2-3 days. Guess what? I got it today!!!!! First good dell experience
-
I ordered mine on 8/11 and got it on the 17th. Waaaaaaaaaay before that 30th date also. Good times.
-
I did free shipping...IT SAYS I WONT FLAMING GET IT TILL THE 28TH. Rage!!! -
I just got free shipping. I didn't say much other than asking why it's still in production and that people have received their computers in a week. I guess they took the initiative to call me because I've never called them before.
-
oh by the way i ordered mine on the 10th got it 17th but got next day air
-
So apparently Fedex attempted to deliver my laptop yesterday morning. I got an email from Dell saying they had just shipped out my laptop this morning. GJ DELL TEIM MACHINE.
-
-
Ordered mine a few days ago, August 17th 2011. The expected delivery Date is August 30th 2011 and it is currently "IN PRODUCTION" status. I did "next day shipping"
-
Mine was delivered on Saturday, today is Monday and a few minutes ago I received a letter that my laptop has been shipped just a moment ago, although status checker on the website still says that my laptop is "in production".
I noticed that status checker doesn't show accurate information right after I ordered the laptop. I understand that it takes some time to assemble and test it, but after three weeks since, every single day I started doing the same thing - check if the status checker says something different, initiate a chat session with sales representative, ask him to check the status.
They've been telling me the same - everything is alright, blah.. blah.. we're expecting the item to be delivered before, or on Friday, but we can't give you the tracking number yet (for some different reasons.. blah.. blah..).
And it took a week, only after seven days, finally one descent man emerged and said: "I honestly can't give you very accurate and 100% info about your order, and I believe with tools we have in this department, nobody can promise you that. You gotta call this number"
And then I called the customer care dep. number and the guy said: "It hasn't been shipped yet". I was shocked.. Whatta hell with you people? Why the heck you've been lying to me? Damn it, I've been told several times that it's been shipped four days ago, and everything is alright...
I found a manager, and explained to him that I already planned my weekend to spend configuring my new machine. And then they apologized, and did almost impossible and I finaly received my laptop next day early in the morning...
I wonder for how longer the status checker would be saying "in production" -
Ordered on the 18th, the Xbox came today, the Neoprene sleeve comes tomorrow, and the laptop comes on the second. But from what I've been hearing they arrive before the EDD? I hope so, school starts on the 8th, and I have books to read and I have to do a report on them... Darn summer homeowrk...

Ordered on the 21th (canada order), ETA for delivery 9/5/2011...Still hoping for a miracle

Today my order updated, before it said EDD 9/2, now it says EDD 8/27. I'm guessing that's a glitch, because they updated it to make themselves look bad for it being late. I figured it would come today, but no luck. Tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Ordered my m14x on the 27th August about 8pm, recieved today (2nd September).

Ordered my Alienware M14x today [9/5/2011]
The Estimated Delivery Date on the website when I bought it was 9/16, but now on the Order Status it says 9/30.
Any idea if I could get it earlier than that? -

1) The i7-2820QM isn't worth it. The 2720QM is hardly worth it anyway but can occasionally make a small difference. You should stick with the 2630QM.
2) The 3GB GT 555M is a scam by Dell and NVIDIA. The 1.5GB of memory in the non-upgraded GPU is more than enough for anything. The GT 555M is an upper-midrange GPU and no game will be able to take advantage of the extra memory. It's hard to see a game even take up 800MB, letalone 1.5GB.
3) I can't believe you missed the 1600x900 screen upgrade, especially seeing as how you grabbed the expensive CPU and GPU. This is the one most important upgrade. First, most 1366x768 screens are junk in terms of image quality, and I doubt the one in the Alienware is any different. The 1600x900 screen is known to have well above average quality though. Second, 1366x768 is a low resolution for a 14" screen, it's more suited to 12.5" screens. The low resolution makes text and UI elements really big, and limits you to one window onscreen at once. The screen makes more of a difference than any other upgrade because it's the only upgrade you notice quite literally all the time. You should never get the 1366x768 screen unless you specifically need to due to poor eyesight (larger text) - and even then, there are Windows DPI settings.
My advice: Call Dell, cancel your order, and:
- downgrade to the 2720QM or 2630QM, or even the i5 depending on the CPU-intensity of the specific games you're playing
- downgrade to the 1.5GB GT 555M
- upgrade to the 1600x900/900p display
The optimal best-value M14x config has only these two upgrades:
- 1600x900 display
- i7-2630QM processor over the i5-2410M -

Should arrive on or before the 28th -
Dell is so weird with tracking info... odd for such a big online order company to suck so bad at it. Almost seems like it's manually updated. -
....Even when your not home? i.e. leaving a note on the door that instructs them to place it by the door, signed and printed name with date?
Tracking information says "indirect signature" required, is this sufficient.

I don't think FedEx will do that , their responsibility if the item has stolen or lost. Basically they will come again if you missed in the morning , they come again at afternoon or tomorrow. (For like 3days , then they will place it at you local FedEx store after 3days no one at home.
-
-
yeah what iphantomhives said. I have missed the fedex shipment quite a few times and never had it just laying outside the house
-
Unless they have changed their policies anything over a certain amount of money requires an adult signature and they have to attempt to deliver once. After they have attempted to deliver they will leave a notice on your door. From there you can have them hold it for you at the Fedex location or you can sign the tag on the door and they will leave the package the next day.
Good Luck -
"Indirect signature" just means it doesn't have to be YOU who signs for the package, it still has to be signed for in person by an adult.
There are items where you can sign the delivery attempt notice and indicate where they should leave the package, but a $2000-4000 laptop isn't one of them.
Best bet if you can't be home to accept delivery, or if you missed them, is to call the local FedEx shipping center and arrange to pick it up there. -
Actually the original post says it all, fedex will leave the package as long as u have that information and signed it. I've done it with my laptop that came back from service, and even asked the fedex delivery guy.
-
my fedex guy would leave the package at my back door, not a bad idea unless it was something expensive..
