Well, I did contact 2 Dell Sale Reps today actually, but one said that I couldn't buy because I needed a U.S. credit card (well visa and mastercard are american, aren't they?). The another sale rep said I could continue with the order without any problems, that I just have to put the billing adress the same as the shipping adress... So I don't know wich one believe, and I'm affraid that I buy it and it happens any problems.. i dont know...

 

Unfortunately it only helps a tiny bit @ 2-3% if I'm not mistaken.

 

Well laptop has been shipped should come tomorrow it says too bad i was unable to get the xbox oh well

 

Haha mine shipped as well, scheduled for delivery on Wednesday, a week early! Hopefully mine comes in pristine condition!

just went on aw site and spec out the same and the price is $1519 without any saving...
not sure what I missing from yours. but if that is the price, and you getting it for $1300 ish, then its total of $200 some saving.

My 1st purchase! Always wanted an Alienware. Sadly, the experience doesn't match up to even the lowest of my expectations from a so called *niche* brand. I'm from India by the way, paid for my M14 on the 15th of June. Till date I have no sort of communication regarding the same. Not even an order ID!!! The sales rep says he's out of office so I asked him to make me speak to someone else at work so that I could at least take down my order number, but, he says he can't get through to anyone. By far the worst experience I've ever had! I can only imagine what I'll face once I receive my laptop!!!

 

did u get microsoft home and office? Its feakin 100 bucks so annoying cuz this laptop would have been around 1200 if it didnt cost that freakin much. But you need it, i need to have word and powerpoint, etc for college.

 

received my m14x last thursday. came with a defective gpu/lcd screen. they sent a technician to switch out some parts. rebooting worked fine and everything seemed to be ok. UNTIL...i realized they switched my screen out to the standard resolution one (but i purchased the HD 1600x900 one). Now they say they don't have parts to send and replace it again. This is getting ridiculous. I have to wait for them to send a new laptop and i have to send the one i have now back. ugh. might have to wait 10-15 business days they say

 

*Update*- After continuous follow-ups I finally managed to receive an update! I saw the following in the shipping section:-

16-Jun-2011 Order Received
17-Jun-2011 Order released to manufacturing
22-Jun-2011 Manufacturing Build Complete

EDD says 04/07/2011 which earlier was 13/07/2011.

Does this mean the unit is ready to be shipped?

 

Hi all, I'm new to this site and just ordered myself a m14x on 6/9/2011 and customized a lot of the setup. It's almost two weeks later now and it still isn't out of the "in production" phase and I was wondering how long any of you thought until it would get sent out? I feel like a little kid counting down the days until his birthday, I just want the dang thing so bad haha

 

i think they are out of the 1600x900 displays. that may be why its taking so long

 

I just receive my M14x few hours ago, the delivery was lighting fast, once it is arrive in NZ, they sent it to me just overnight. Oh I'm typing this out using my M14x!

I'll update more info soon. Now i'm busy play with this new beast.

 

Nice CGSDR! My order status is "arrive in New Zealand", so I can expect it earlier than 29 June ETA? Or am I just getting impatient lol

Yeah, everything look perfect, luckily nothing is broken at the moment, but just one one tiny thing which is the surface near the bottom right of the keyboard is kinda bit of uneven.

If sometime there's a website glitch for the "Arrive in NZ" It will show you that between the manufacturing build complete, the glitch can be detect by the missing "Shipping Detail" If in the Shipping detail is missing or it didnt show in it, that mean your M14x havent arrive in NZ yet, just try a few more refresh it will revert to the last update.

If it is arrive in NZ, the ETA should be a week or 2-3 day earlier, but if you call the 0800 number, it will be more accurate, here it is: 0800 449 602.

You see one thing is funny is that the website is very inaccurate (Or is it havent update?) In my Order Status, it still show me that my M14x is still with the local courier (PBT) but actually it was delivered to me since 8AM!!!

Another thing, as I fear, they update the BIOS to A03, which is the troublesome one when on battery.

Hey guys, 7am the courier rang my door bell and here it is!

It's been exactly 7 days from order to delivery - way faster than the estimated 18 days.

No physical flaws with the system so far... however I can't connect to WiFi!! My adapters are all turned on but my WiFi tray icon can't detect my home and work networks... (typing this on my work desktop)

I'm going to uninstall McAfee and see what happens, but anyone experienced the same thing? I've tried restarting.

 

OK FIXED!! Had to press Fn + F3 to manually turn WiFi on!

 

Good to hear that, but for me, it automatic ask me to connect on the first startup screen, and it succesfully connect it there. Do you have these performance problem and the minor problem I got?

Because I found some few minor problem such as the uneven spacebar and the squeaky sound on the 'Backspace' key, and the AlienFX on startup half the keyboard are not lighting properly until login into Windows.

However, I dont mind about it much as long as it work, there are some performance problem too, but that is because of they install the new BIOS A03, when gaming (Both on Battery & Plugged in), most game just ignore the Nvidia GPU and automatic select the Intel GPU, so everytime I finish install a game I have to force that game to play using the Nvidia GPU.

 

@CGSDR: To answer your questions

(1) uneven spacebar: it's more lifted on the right hand side, lights leak through the gap
(2) when I type I do hear squeeky sounds but not sure which keys yet...
(3) AlienFX is all working fine for now
(4) performance: I haven't gamed yet because I'm at work but will definitely try tonight, all you have to do is whitelist on nVidia control panel and it runs on GPU?

 

For this particular answer, yes but on certain game like GTA4, I have try all the available option, and it still not working, GTA4 still for some unknown reason dont detect or play game on the Nvidia GPU.

 

whats up guys, ive been lurking here for awhile. figured id add my order experience. I ordered my M14x last tuesday the 21st around 7pm. original EDD was 7/7/11 after speaking with a rep on the phone, i was upgraded to NBD shipping free of charge. it was then changed to EDD of 7/5/11 yesterday i checked online about 3pm. it said shipped. the Fedex man was here at 1pm today 7 hours shy of 1 exact week! couldnt be happier. so far NO problems with the laptop. can't wait to explore it!

I believe New York has sales tax of 4% so your total would go from $1,599 to $1,663.

I ordered mine on 7/9/2011, got email confirmation of the order the same day and has been "In Production" ever since. Tomorrow's going on three weeks "In Production". Why does alienware hate me so much?

 

WOW! AMAZING! so you went into the future 4 weeks and ordered it. Then went back in time waiting for it to ship. So it is still 1 week away from the date you ordered it and it still has not arrived. That is troublesome indeed.


On a serious note, assuming you bought it 6/9/2011 so in june not july , there must be an issue on their side. Many people get theirs shipped in 3 weeks. I remember reading the forums a couple days ago and somebody mentioned they ran out of stock on the 900p screens. Maybe this is affecting you. You best bet would be to call up alienware, not just check online, to see whats going on.

 

I ordered on 6/23/11 after an email to my rep complaining of almost a week and never showed an edd, an hour later it shows shipped nbd! I'll get it tomorrow before 3pm.On a side note I'm not sure about shipping to saudi arabia but in New york the tax is 8.75% on long Island,NY it's 8.65%.

Hey guys. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I ordered my alienware last friday and got it yesterday! Was very pleased. So far have not been able to really test it out and make sure everything is ok though. Hope that my laptop doesnt have the problems that a lot of people have experienced.

Does the $99 Internal 60GHz WirelessHD Transmitter come with a reciever or just a transmitter?

If not, where would you get a reciever, and how much does it cost?


And are the Alienware ship dates accurate? I plan on ordering one to a friends house in the usa, then picking it up when im on holiday later this month. Im from the UK and plan on ordering tomorrow and I'll be in the usa till 23rd August, is that enough time?

Also, is the 4GB ram from Alienware 1 x 4Gb or 2 x 2GB?

 

I ordered on June 30 (Thursday) and it says the Estimated Delivery Date is July 15 (Friday).

I really hope it doesn't take that long... I got Next Business Day for my delivery option and I've been reading on here that some people got theirs within 7-9 days. I hope to get mine sometime this week (after 4th of July).

 

SwitchStyles, I've ordered mine on June 25. Payment was confirmed on the 27th. Since then no chance in status. After I've sent a request about the status the answer was a 'delay because of parts'.

He probably went with the Quick Ship model (look for the icon on the model listing page). If it's in stock, it ships within 24 hours. Zero configuration options obviously, as that's how they get it out the door so fast (they're pre-built). You probably could have gone Quick Ship if you didn't option up to the 750 GB HDD.

Ahhh damn, delay of parts?! The wait is going to seem like forever. I seriously had a dream last night that I was doing an unboxing of my laptop and woke up, with no laptop.

Currently I've got the esitmated ship date of 26th July for the Laptop (Spec Below), However the Orion backpack currently has the ship date of 25th August

I'm only going to be in the USA till 23rd Of August, So what are the chance of the order date changing to a sooner time for the backpack?

I ordered my laptop and backpack on June 30th, I got my backpack on July 1st. I'm just waiting on my laptop. I doubt it will take that long to get your backpack lol.

 

zhou, my page updated and says it was shipped yesterday and should be here today. I don't know why yours is taking so long to ship and get finished.

 

Could just be a different configuration, and one back-ordered option holding things up. They do generally give you a warning when selecting options if a particular option is likely to delay your order.

 

I dont know, i upgraded almost every aspect of the laptop. it cost like 2k.

anyway im setting mine up right now, i'm so happy.
