M14x Order Status Discussion

I just ordered my m14x, I used 75$ coupon and student discount and this amazing sales rep dropped it by aproxx another 200$!! The pre-configuration was 1,618$ before tax. And the final price i got was 1,326$ before tax. Id like to point out that I am not with farmers and most definitely not in the AFFES promotion either, so it is possible to negoitate. Thanks for much help on these forums and from Voodooi for his recommendation for sales rep.

thanks but one last thing, the guy took 300$ off but he said he couldnt add in the xbox or else he would have to take away the discount. I ordered it and i have up to 5 days to cancel it, you think i should call up to a different guy and see if i can add the xbox into it? B.c i no doubt want the discount of 300$ he saved and much rather have that than the xbox but i wonder if i called up a diff rep and say hey look i placed my order but no xbox can i get one?

i got the 2820, 8gb ram, 1.5gb gpu, 900p screen, 6205 wifi, bluetooth, 3 years advanced, and an xbox for ~$1700

 

yeah but your necessities were different i dont need the 2820 or the 3 year advanced i needed it as cheap as can be with the specs above so, but im still trying to get that xbox i might call 2morrow and ask, b.c the sales rep i had was great gave me 300$ off and im not in AAFES or anything but he said he coudnt add the xbox it required a bundle package and it would cancel my amazing deal so....im wondering if i call and get someone else and try and hagle with them? or should i just leave it alone? The last thing i wanna do is lose this amazing deal so

 

try and talk to another rep, took me two guys to get to the deal i got, and the thing is i didn't need any of the upgrades either, i was ready to buy where i was but when i said i may have to think about it because i was on a tight budget (white lie) they caved.

 

well no i definitely got the best deal i want 300$ of is ton and leaves me in the clear for it, the only reason i would call would be to addin the free xbox, but im just scared because my rep said if i wanted the xbox it would cancel the huge discount.

 

Just call and see. The worst thing would be getting rejected, even then you got a great deal. Just say that you'd really like the xbox and since you're paying so much for your m14x already...

Yeah, I mean if I got your deal without and xbox, hell I would go out and buy one. I am selling the one I get since I have one so I guess it's another $200 off

 

I should be getting mine end of this week or beginning of next. I'm just waiting for the upgrades, listed in my sig, to be installed.

 

yeah id probably sell it and get even more money, i guess its worth a shot, i just dont wanna call and be like " hey can i get the xbox i just paid blah blah blah and the site says pcs above 699$, and the reps like sure sure i can do that, and then i say what about discount i wont lose that right itl still be the same price right, then he says yeah yeah yeah, and then i get the bill and it aint what it was.

 

That would suck a big one. Just see if they can do it. And if not, during the return period after you receive it call and say you wanna return it, and they will throw something your way.

 

For the CPU and RAM, did you do the factory upgrade or manually upgrade? Because I used to check US website before I place an order in Dell NZ, everything is the same, except for the pricing.

But I didnt see they list the CPU/RAM any higher than the 2820QM/1600Mhz, as well the RAM.

If u do a manual upgrade can you provide link for the "How to" or Video on how to upgrade it? Especially for the CPU since that I heard that M14x's CPU is near impossible to upgrade without tear out everything.

For the DVD burner, If I want to upgrade to blu-ray, Is it I just have to do it same way as I did with the HDD or the RAM?

 

finally after a month's long wait ... the alien arrived.. and m loving it ..

 

The upgrades are getting installed by someone else since dell doesn't have them as options. As far as the DVD to Blu upgrade, it can't be done because all Blu ray drives are to big. It sucks so I'm using an external Blu ray drive and putting an extra hard drive in the spot of the DVD drive.

 

Hey I am looking at a m14x right now and I was just wondering how you received so much of a discount?

 

alright, so what i did was i configured my m14x online then chatted with a represented through Dell Chat. he got me the xbox added on for free, then he transferred me to a phone rep. This is where most of your discounts will come from. Just say things like your on a tight budget and want this m14x over another brands computer. Say you need it by a certain date and just see if you can combine coupons together, i know there is a $50 coupon floating around. The best thing to do is to call many times and talk with many different reps, they are all accommodating and some will give you several hundreds of dollars off.

 

damn that is ridiculous, i got mine (specs in sig), with only 1 year normal warranty for 1726! this one is in process of being refunded though..can you negotiate my next one?

 

Update : I'm finally getting it tomorrow! Had a good experience with their sales rep, who helped with the order and kept me updated frequently. Brilliant service. in total it took just 1 week. Yay!

 

It's took me 2 1/2 weeks to get to me, now the Laptop is just 8 days away!

My Original EDD is 14/Jul then speed to 7/Jul then to 29/Jun and finally 24/Jun!

My Original order date is 11/Jun

I ordered mine on May 13th.

To this day, it is still in production. I've called about 20 times, spoken to the supervisor 4 times, just about everyone else they got there.

I'm lost.

 

Try nagging them, ask them for their Ext number, so u can contact "THAT" particular person so it's like u are naturally forcing them to do it or get another frustrating call.

And also ask their email address and if you like try spam their inbox but with different text everyday.

For me I also got some problem too, actually after I got my order No. I was like , anyway my real original order date is on the 8/Jun, but unfortunately for some unknown reason, the sale rep cancelled my order which enrage me , and call them like 5 times that day, and spam their inbox 3 days after.

But then in the end of the 3rd day, the sale rep finally contact me back and apologize me for not having good reason for cancelled and have re-order it plus they speed it up for me by having a priority one shipping, and also get a 50% discount on the part where I upgrade (Thanks to NBR's tip on the haggling, but I use it with real Anger ).

The EDD is now 24/Jun, but I think it will be even before that, since the laptop is already arrive in NZ today afternoon. :smile:

The dell sales rep told me this is the lowest spec available to New Zealand. I tried asking for less ram (4gb), less storage (500gb) and 1.5GB 555m but every rep I've talked to said no.

Here's the screwed up part - I recommended them to have a cheaper option like what I've suggested, and the day AFTER I place my order they started offering it on their website for $200 cheaper. I know my upgrades are worth more than $200 but seriously it's still a saving.

Should I show my dissatisfaction and ask for freebies?

Unless you can drive to the US border area and pick it up, it looks to me like the discounts from Canadian reps just aren't good enough thus far.

I checked a few reps and they were only giving less than 5% and sometimes coupons don't even work in Canada. Now, if you can make a drive to the border to pick it up, you can save a substantial amount of money (several hundreds) with the right rep.

Hmm my order status keeps getting shorter - from 5th July to 4th July and now it says it's manufacturing complete and ETA 29th June.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it actually accurate?

 

Congrats! Like me, it keep shorten again and again (Which is good), at first 14/Jul >> 7th/Jul >> 29th/Jun >> 24th/Jun (Final Date)

For the accuracy, I'm not really sure because you know what, the status between "Ship from Factory" and "Arrive in Local Port"(Arrive in NZ), is constantly changing between 17th Jun and today, which made me felt that it is not so accurate. I wish that it will NOT Delay.

 

I'd be a happy camper if it arrives on 29th, going skiing on the 3rd-8th and would be mean to receive it before I depart.

How did you know 24th Jun was the final date?

 

Well because today is 20th/Jun, and the status is constantly changing between Ship From Factory and Arrive in NZ (I might have to mail Dell to be sure), and the 24th is just 4 days away!

Another thing is one of my mate at school he has a M11x, and he said that I can trust the status there, so I'm try to trust it that why I think 24th/Jun is the final date.

 

Hello guys, I'm not american, but I'm staying in New York from june 23th to july 23th, is it possible to me to buy it and get it delivered in this adress I'll stay? If yes, what I'm suposed to put in the "billing adress"? I have a international credit card from my country, could I buy with it and put the adress that comes in the credit card statement or it needs to be a U.S. credit card?
