same here, my delivery date is 3/4
was told that most probably will be shipped during weekend, I asked them there is no shipping during weekend but the rep told me in states they do ship during weekend, probably will know by monday if they ship, If they dont ship on Monday i doubt i will get it on the edd
-
-
Fedex and UPS also do sunday deliveries but at a very high premium. I highly doubt Dell is paying for that.
You can always customize your deliveries on the fedex/ups website to make it easier for you. Some choices are free, some will cost you like $5 extra. -
I thought for Canadian order they ship via Purolator
-
-
-
Yes I'm in Canada but since it's ship from US they said probably will ship it during weekend
-
They just don't do home delivery. But packages still move through their system, planes still get loaded etc. So its quite possible that your laptop will travel through the US during the weekend and then get handed over to Purolator for the final delivery to you. -
From my experiences for what it's worth it takes 2-3 days to travel from the USA to get to the border. Then another half or whole day to get through to go to the hub in Canada then out for delivery in your area. Whole thing takes about 3-5 days.

Ordered an Alienware 13 i7-5500u with a 1440p screen. Entered production on the 27th this past Friday. Estimated ship date is April 10th. Seems like quite the wait, but when I had my AW15, I got it in 3 days.
hmm... -
So all in sudden it hows delivery attempt failed, notice was left but nothing there
so i contact chat support and look like the delivery guy went to wrong address it seems, DAMN
Called purolator and they said cant do much as it will reattempt for tomorrow, No way!!!
So i went to the wrong address and got the delivery note, and i saw Purolator truck pass across the street, So ended up in pursuit and stopped him and finally got my BabyPixelfish likes this. -
Dell uses something called Just In Time manufacturing where basically the parts are ordered only when a laptop is ordered. This reduces the amount of inventory they need to hold and thus saves money. Now the downside is that your laptop takes longer to ship.
Now to help alleviate that, Dell will sometimes order very popular configurations before hand so they can ship the laptop within 24 hours (haven't seen that much with the alienware line). And sometimes someone will order a laptop that then gets built but then cancels the order, so now Dell has all the parts they need on hand to use in another order.
So yeah, when you ordered your 15 it might have been that they already had the parts in stock and so all they have to do is put it together and voila. But when you ordered the 13" one, they didn't and so they have to wait for all the parts to come in.Last edited: Apr 1, 2015z0mgn0es likes this. -

Dell lists my shipment as In Production still but UPS alerted me that my package from dell will arrive tomorrow! -
Dell surprised me again. AW 13 (upgraded to an i7) ordered on the 24th, shipped yesterday and will be here tomorrow. The projected ship date was the 15th of April.

Anybody from India here having the new Alienware 15? Are they shipping the 240W adapter on demand? My M14x is nearly dead and I'm planning on getting a top of the line 15. Anybody sharing their experience would be awesome.

Alienware $999 unit with i5 and 5200u processor w/ GeForce 960M
Order Date: 3/30/2015
EDD: 4/14/2015
Status: In Production
I ordered late Sunday night at like 2 AM.. (I was reading about what gaming laptop I wanted and decided to bite down and treat myself to an AW 13. The process has been fast for me actually or so I think. Literally got an E-Mail at 6 AM Monday morning asking me to verify the order. I did, and literally checked the Order Status right after and it changed straight to In-Production.
It's been In Production since March 30th.. do you guys think I may get it like sometime next week as a little surprise? I am way too excited! haha. -
My timeline was
Ordered 19th March
Shipped 27th March
Received 31st March -
Purolators useless infrastructure strikes again. Everytime something is sent to me via these idiots its delay delay delay. early afternoon it arrives in calgary yesterday, you would think it would have made it to red deer 1 hour away in plenty of time to be here for the delivery date. but no as usual they are most likely more worried about getting out early for the long weekend.
Think a guy could pick it up while its sitting in their warehouse in town here before the weekend.... Nope up yours customer.
Never use these People 8/10 shipments via Purolator this year have been nothing but headaches. Absolutely useless transfer infrastructure.
Dell needs to offer alternate shipping methods, as i would pay an extra 50 bucks for Fedex or UPS knowing it would arrive ontime or early everytime
Thanks rant over -
Alienware 13
Ordered: 2015-03-20
Estimated: 2015-04-13
Received: 2015-04-02

I'm crushed. I received my very first alienware laptop today and I'm just crushed. After installing two games and updating the alienware software the computer will no longer boot. It just beeps 8 times over and over. Nothing shows up on the screen at all. I'm honestly starting to regret not going with the Lenovo Y40 I was also looking at.childprotectorofthenight likes this. -
Call them and request for replacement -
I called Alienware technical support. The automated system can't seem to find my service tag number (possibly because it's STILL listed as in production on their site) and after going through the prompts it informed me "Sorry. All of our agents are busy now. Please try your call again later." and it hung up. Very disappointing.

I'm getting so impatient that it is now making me become paranoid. The website has said in production since the 30th which makes sense because it apparently takes an average of 10 days for everything to finish.. so I read that in the past, if you called the automated customer service line, it would tell you the exact status i.e. boxing, kiting, etc. I called all 3 automated lines and they all told me it's processing. I did buy this using Dell Preferred because I'm a college student but can easily make the payments each month, but I WAS approved and even had to call Dell for verification purposes the next morning, and instantly the online status went from processed straight to In Production.
Also I was curious and checked my account and it said I owe 0 dollars right now yet only have available credit of 5 dollars and something cents which makes sense because after the discounts and everything it came to $994.something, with a credit limit of 1000.
Should I be worried at all? I'm 22 years old and I still feel like a 10 year old when it comes to getting a gaming pc -__- -
Hi guys,
I been looking at allot of laptops like Sage (Cleo), MSI, Asus, Razor , Macbook Pro and Alienware (probably more) and i got to say Alienware has been the only brand to offer the best components and the best support alternative option. Atleast if you live in EU (Sweden). Here i can select up to 4 years next day help at my home. That is pretty amazing. Not even Apple can offer something like that. All the customer support aside i'm not sure what level of after sale the other brands offer but i have not seen any thing that can compare with that except maybe Apple. Although with Apple i wont get close to the spec i get on the Alienware 15.
I read allot of negative stuff but in the end there is actually not many laptops in this segment that can compete with Alienware.
I'm thinking to get
AW15
QHD display (love the mat finish of FHD but i'm interested to see how the high-res + touch works in Win10 and since this beast will most likely last for many years to come i want to get the best screen)
16GB
980
256+1TB
4 year warranty
This wont be cheap but i'm sure it will last atleast 4-5 years
I'm sitting on a MBP from early 2010 and its still rocking fine for the usual surfing but its not handling the games all to well. It gets really really noisy and very hot so i'm hoping the new AW15 wont be a as hot as my MBP.
Anyone here received theirs yet and can share some thoughts after some gaming sessions? I'm really curious about the heat, noise and the screen. Would be cool to see a video of the laptops side by side with the 2 screens but i guess no one has 2 laptops herebeen searching on the net and can find anything either, i did find a XPS 13 with the 2 panels but not sure its the same used in AW15.

Nothing yet. I'll just wait, I guess. I think I'm just being too impatient.

i was about to order the touch screen but finally end up ordering the Matte screen and really happy about it, about the fan sound it can get quiet loud
check my AW17 fan sound during bios update im not sure if the same with 15
Im on AW17 and thought og ordering the touch screen but decided to go with Matte screen and im really glad with it, Slight issue is my hdd ticking sound and lower left of the screen bleed, i have my replacement In production, If you wonder about the fan sound when im gaming Battlefield probably the fan kick in like 50-70%, only time i seen the fan kick in 100% during Bios update and its really loud

- First order cancelled (970M and 4K), due to wanting to upgrade to 980M to make the most of the 4K UHD panel.
- Second order cancelled (980M and 4K) due to refusal of Dell to supply 240W power supply even if I offered to pay for it. Something to do with part not in their inventory for that machine, therefore they cannot and will not supply it and not allowed to supply from another machine in case something goes wrong.
- Third ordered today (970M and 1080p) seems I don't have to worry about upgrading the power supply, therefore no extra cost involved trying to source and buy my own. Only the base model, best part is 970M is only $60 upgrade over the base 965M, and just selecting it changes the i5 dual core to i7 quad core for no extra cost! I guess that instantly allows the BGA mobo option with both the i7-4710HQ/970M on-board. Also included free upgrade from 8GB to 16GB RAM.

Still no update on mine, but it's standard to be in production for up to 10 days and it's been 7 days. Plus the EDD is the 14th.
