HP does look prettier and Lenovo does seem better built but both of their workstations use one cooling fan to cool both the CPU/GPU and don't have as good as an outlet as Dell does. HP/Lenovo also seem to have longer battery life compared to the M4600/6600.

I got my refurbished M4600 with i7 2720QM, 1080p screen, backlit kb, 32 gb msata, 500 gb sata, 8 gb, 9 cell, bluetooth, intel 6300, slot dvdrw, and a few other things for $800 shipped to California. Looks brand new except for some minor scuff marks on the case.

    I've got a m6600 because I want:
-Metal shell, this rules out gaming laptops like alienware m17x.
-Workstation graphics card for 3D modeling and animation softwares, this rules out most other laptops.

Then what's left is basically thinkpad and elitebook. Thinkpad is out because it doesn't have 17" screen. Elitebook is out because i need international warranty, as well as the fact that i like precision's look a lot better, don't know why people saying it looks ugly, i think the rounded edge boxy design looks damn sexy.
