Sadly the one I just bought has the same uneven lighting problem. Horrible light leakage on the bottom two inches of the screen (Samsung 2CCFL). Did Dell give you any problems when you said you wanted the screen switched? Did the switch fix the problem?

Nope...all these screens are the same. I got a screen replacement first, kept telling them how much i hated it and that i wanted to return the laptop. That wasn't possible at first because i bought it as a company and here the "rules" are companies are expected to know what they buy (without seeing it) and can't return it like consumers can. In the end they gave in and said i could get a refund, i told that i didn't want the hassle of setting up a new system again so asked what deal they could give me on a 2709W screen..i ended up paying €350 for it (about 50% off)
After that i also got a replacement system but the screen is the same again. I've learned to live with it though and also bought another 2709W for in the studio ;)

My advice...calibrate your laptop monitor and set it to 40-50% brightness...i don't really notice the light bleed except for on dark screens

Pfff.... I returned my M4400 with an awesome WUXGA RGB-LED Truelife to Dell, because I was uncomfortable with glossy surface after hours working over the white and brilliant background writing text (Word, email..), typing code... I felt intense irritations in my eyes!

However, the machine was great and I wanted to order again (in a few months) with a matte screen (I never had problems with my eyes after working 10-14 hours with matte screens...).

But... I'm very worried after reading your opinions about 2CCFL screen. It would be perfect that Dell offers RGBLED Antiglare (matte) screen in M4400 (such as M6400). I've sent these request to Ideastorm (http://dellideas.secure.force.com/ideaView?id=087700000000LAJAA2), promote it!! I want a quality WUXGA matte screen for M4400!!

And what is your opinion about the screen?

Anyone could attach some photos? What are your opinion about contrast and colours?

Actually i'm very happy with the screen now. After properly calibrating the screen with a hardware colorimeter the image and colours are great. I usually have the brightness at 40% at which the light leakage isn't really visible at all. I can recommend to go for the 2CCFL.

    @ Kayless

You actually have a LG WUXGA 2CCFL?
That would be the first confirmed unit out there....so far they've all been Samsungs
