I'm probably not going to get this laptop until Christmas (as I would likely start school in January), in addition that would also officially make my current laptop 4 years old. Which if I'm not certain, is quite a feat in the technological universe. Perhaps you would be able to help me sort out stuff when I get to that time but at the moment I really like the E6520's set-up, as it has modular drives but the only thing holding me back is the lack of a blu-ray drive and well the Vostro comes standard with everything that the E6520 is trying to charge me $800 for (e.g. Bluetooh, WiFi/WiMax, Fingerprint/Facial Recognition, FHD Display and etc.).

Now my other option would be to purchase the HP Envy 17" but the only thing stopping me is the fact that it is 17" - otherwise, I'd be all for a 15.6" version of it. But the performance perks that you get with larger laptops are leaps above what they offered in the past. So I'll eventually have to decide on something, but as of right now, I could also get the XPS 15 + X-Box Dell Deal they have going on for students, only b/c I don't own a X-Box.

Has anyone tried playing Starcraft 2 on their Vostro 3350 with the Radeon 6490M active?

No...when I get time I may calibrate it....last time I did it it took quite a while :)

Speaking of quads, my M6500 seems blazingly fast after I've been on this 3350 for a while :) The 3350 is pretty fast, but for multitasking, nothing beats the quad :)

There is a very big Notebook community here, but just a few 3350 users ? Interesting...

I have just ordered an Vostro 3350 i7-2620M, not got it yet. I purchased 3350 because it was one of the best business notebooks. But why it does not sell well ? Is there any idea ?

A little update. My results are now the same as yours. 5% wear and a total charge of 104%. Looks like i got my wish :p It looks like tha battery itself is fine, just HWMonitor doesn't read it properly. Yippee! :)

I've sort of been wondering the same thing.

A lot of it would probably be that there's no need to upgrade. Have a look at the specs on my Vostro. All i needed was ULV Core 2 Duos, I ended up with the Vostro because it had just as good battery life as the ULVs i'd seen and a better price to boot. But there's no real incentive to upgrade for a lot of business laptops if 3-5 year old tech can do the same job just as well.

I have a question and hope to get a reply: I plan to buy a 32 GB mini-PCI Express SSD to install Windows. But I do not know if 3350 boots from this slot.

Is there any suggestions or experience about this ?
(created a topic under Dell forum but no reply yet)

Yeah, you are right. But I have the same config but I am here... to learn more about my Notebook, share some thoughts, etc.

Not a clue. Where are you planning to plug in the SSD? I just opened up my Vostro to double check and there's no free connections of any kind that are easily accessible. And despite what some sources have claimed, there is NOT an ExpressCard slot.

Speaking of HW Monitor....it doesn't even recognize the ATI card, only the Intel and then won't give temps.

Open Hardware Monitor: Opposite; it will recognize the ATI and not the Intel card, and won't give temps either.

They both gave the same temps on everything else.

Is there anything that works with switchable Sandy Bridge graphics? I wanted to observe my gpu temps while gaming.

Would any of you guys recommend this laptop for a college freshmen? How do you think it will stand up to being taken around campus day in and day out?
