Vostro 1500 CPU upgrade

    Is it risky overclocking the video cards in these things?

    It can be if you don't know what you're doing.

    Default clocks for your GPU is 475/400. My current OC is at 550/525 and everything is fine (and I get a nice little performance boost ;)). Just don't go crazy and pull all the sliders to the right side...

    I've seen some crazy 620+/540+ OC numbers on these forums, but those are definitely not safe nor stable clocks.

    You have to be very lucky to be able to hit those numbers at a stable rate... And even then, your GPU will probably die out a lot faster due to all the extra stress.

    Remember: A smart over clocker is a conservative over clocker ;).

    Wow! T7800...is that 2.6 GHz? How much would a T7800 run for? I may upgrade sometime in the near future...

    If I were you I would upgrade to a penryn. Such as T8300 and co. They run cooler and will give you better battery life.

    And by the way this is an old thread.

    I would also recommend T8300. Not sure if T9xxx will work but they have more cache.
