Vostro 1500 CD/DVD problems

First of all, try going to the device manager and check if its listed, if its listed just delete the upper and lower filters in the registry

1. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, and then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
2. Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.
3. Expand Control, and then expand Class.
4. Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

Delete upper and lower filters, restart computer, if the drive is yet not seen try booting from the CD, if that doesnt work you definately will need a new drive.

I really wanted a studio 15 but for one reason or the other I can't get it.....I hope a vostro would make me happy
