Ok, so the UJ232A (9.5mm) model should fit instead, is that correct?

    hello)
tell me please, what type of audio of the codec on this M4600????
For example ALC269 or that that newer type ALC661, ALC882.
For me it is important to know it because I want to listen to qualitative music through external columns.
To see the information about the codec it is possible through Everest.
    In advance many thanks)))))

I can only confirm that M4600 is not using Realtek Audio chipset. The info I can gather is as below:-

If you are demanding for very good audio quality, it is better to get external soundcard/DAC for that. I do not like the audio quality output a bit.

Means to you not to be pleasant quality of a sound given out by this laptop.
And is how much worse Cougar point than Realtek?
Or than differ Cougar point from Realtek?
And if to buy in addition an external sound card where it to insert through usb or expresscard???.
And there there is an equalizer on the given sound card?
Whether probably to solder the audiochip or it is impossible?
    In advance many thanks)

I can't find qualizer for this onboard soundcard.
Not sure which one is better, but at least Realtek has equalizer.
Solder the audiochip... omg don't try that please.

There is no SPDIF on this laptop, so there is little room for improvement. Better off get an external soundcard. It exists either in USB or Expresscard form. USB type is more common now. I am using X-Fi expresscard 54mm soundcard.

It is hard to make the fan run at maximum unless during stressed benchmark test. In normal use the fan noise can hardly be heard, even during game it is considered quiet.

shame i saw this too late. i thougth it wasnt that loud but i wasnt sure because i read it goes up to like 47db. but wasnt sure if that was a true stress test or regular load. i was too hooked on the asus u46sv because it is smaller although the m4600, 8560w. w520 are me most desirable units.

    Hi,

I 'm trying to use the WIDI (Technologie Intel® Wireless Display) on the M4600, the chipset, processor and wirelless card are compatible but the graphic card (radeon 5950) should be a probleme because... that don't work.

Intel said to this subject :" The generic graphics driver cannot be used on Intel® WiDi-enabled systems with ATI* graphics. Please check your computer manufacturer’s website for the latest system specific updates and technical support information."

Maybe the solution should be try to change the graphic card, with a GTS 250M for example...? Do you think that is possible ?

I have a M4600 arriving next week. Read all the threads and reviews and decided to cut the weight a bit by getting the 6 cell battery. Wondering if anyone else has done the same and how much run time you get from it? My config is i7-2820 Quad @ 2.3GHz, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia 1000M with IPS screen, 128 SSD mini card as primary and 500GB HHD as secondary.

Would be nice to get a two hour run from the six cell just doing word processing and wifi but if I need to I'll get the 9 cell later on to fill in on longer unplugged uses.

    Thanks
