Is it possible to purchase the higher memory AMD or NVIDIA boards designed for the M6800 and install into the M4800?

No. They are different form factors (MXM3a vs MXM3b) and so not the same size.

No. M6800 uses MXM 3.0 Type B. M4800 uses MXM 3.0 Type A. Difference is that Type A is smaller. It physically will not fit.

ok thank you....thought I would ask...so if I found another MXM 3.0 type A that had more memory or a higher performance rating, could I install it?

Post the card here what you find. But most likely, they will all be those quadro cards that Dell offers in the first place.

I hear you might still be facing problems with fitting the heatsink properly… if there were a different card, that is.
