I would not try it. It's risky updating from the retail (Plextor) to the OEM (Liteon) of the exact same product - although in my case it worked both with Liteon and Samsung. But updating between products is almost certainly not possible. Most likely, however, you'll just find it impossible to burn the new fw.

    Hi Braxus,

I've just owned an Dell E6420 with the LiteOn 256M2S HDD (PND8).
I'm not sure if I understood Your post as I should, You mean:
    - search for an Plextor 1.05 FW for the 256M2S SSD and use it with Your script (changing the version to PND8)
    - or just go to the Plextor site, download the newest (1.09) FW and install it on my LiteOn SSD?

I would be very gratefull for an reply :)
    Cheers!

I've downloaded the plextor version 1.9 - obviously didn't work, the app directly informed about non supported device.

I've tried Braxuses suggestion from the 1st post - I've replaced the non plaintext version of the ssdc supplyed by plextor, with the one from Braxus but the update failed with bunch of errors - thanks god the device survived...
There was somthing about CS flags or so, was to nervous to notice it...

    Any ideas?

Maybe I should use all the files supplyed by Braxus and only exchange the 1.BIN file with the one from the plextors 1.9 update?
Please notice I have an 256M2S SSD.

A little update for anyone interested~

Got too bored, so I grab my PMDB 128gb m2s and ran through OP's flash (edit the plain text to match PMDB)
    - 1.05, but not reorganize by plextool
Flash 1.09 using the iso by plextor
-1.09, still not reorganize by plextool

PMDB from dell was released on march, 1.09 is Dec, so 1.09 is newer
plextool probably read SSD by serial number~

Do I notice any difference? not really, it is a secondary drive on a secondary machine ~~~
