    TLDR Version
    Attached is a zip file that will allow you to update your Dell OEM Lite-On 128GB M2S firmware to retail release firmware from Lite-On/Plextor. Other models might be possible by editing the config file.

    Long Version
    A couple Latitude E6420s I have at my work came with Dell OEM branded Lite-On 128GB M2S SSDs. Dell for one reason or another has yet to release any updated firmware for the drives. A while back, Lite-On was still releasing firmware update files with the config validation file for flashing in clear-text. Modified it so I was able to flash the Dell OEM firmware to Lite-On/Plextor releases. The zip file I've attached here will update any Dell branded Lite-On 128GB M2S SSD with the OEM PMDA firmware to a v1.05 firmware that has been released by Lite-On/Plextor. Done this on roughly a half-dozen machines here with no problems. However, with that being said, be aware that this may void the warranty on your SSD and you should probably re-flash to the Dell firmware if you are to get your machine serviced under warranty. !!!FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

    You'll need to make a DOS bootable media and place the files in the zip file on the disk. It'll run you through the update process and at the end, you will have a SSD with the v1.05 Plextor M2S release that you can now update with future Lite-On/Plextor releases.

    Unsure if this can be done on other Lite-On/Plextor OEM branded drives but if it can, the file that needs to be edited is sddc.dat. Newer firmware files appear not to be in clear-text anymore but to my knowledge, the flashing program didn't change. Guessing you can still use a clear-text file if wanted.

    sddc.dat Config File
    Code:
    [CONSTRAINT]
    BIN_COUNT=1
    BIN_INFO1=(1.BIN, 1.05, PLEXTOR PX-128M2S ) # Firmware File name, version, and name of drive after flashing
    BIN_NAME1=1.BIN                                                       # Firmware File name
    FW_START1=PMDA! # Lowest firmware level to allow flashing
    FW_END1=PMDA~ # Highest firmware level to allow flashing
    LOCK_MODEL1=LITEONIT LAT-128M2S                                       # Drive model validation

    thanks ! been looking for this! I have Dell M6600 with 2 LiteON 128M2S ssds.
    By the way, can I update my Liteon ssds with Plextor's 128M2S firmware?

    That's what the modified config file will let you do. It'll update to the v1.05 plextor firmware (your drive will be detected as such after the flash). You can then just update to the latest v1.09 firmware afterwards.

    It didn't work for me this is the massege I get:
    (1) base: E1E40000, port_no: 0
    LITEONIT LAT-128M2S
    Device not matched
    (2) base: E1E40000, port_no: 1
    LITEONIT LAT-128M2S
    Device not matched

    I have two LITEONIT 128M2S ssds both with PMD8 Firmware.
    I used USB . How do you create a boot cd with this firmware?

    You'll need to modify the sddc.dat file and change the two lines that say "PMDA" with "PMD8" (without quotes).

    I had this same drive in my Dell Vostro v131. After corrupting multiple Windows 7 installations, I did some research and found out there was a firmware issue in these drives with hibernating. I was using hibernation since receiving the computer. I could not find a Dell firmware update released for these drives so I am very happy to have come across this thread. I successfully used your procedure on my drive to update the firmware. I had Dell PMD9 and modified the dat file as outlined. I hope this solves my problems. Thanks for this information. Much appreciated.

    To a certain extent. You'll need to find one of the older update packages for the 256GB model and then modify the sddc.dat to match the config settings for the 256GB drive and firmware.
