Cutting it pretty close. I may have to pick up a cheap tablet to get me by. I know it takes a while to build/ship a system (unless it's a pre-configured Quick Ship). It'd be nice to read at least a little feedback to make sure they're not a dud out of the gate ;-).
    Thanks for the info!

Other than that this has been driven by Intel delays, and thus Dell should be ready close in behind the formal release, I got nothing from him.

Official announcement and embargo release on the Haswells is expected this weekend, or early next week, at Computex. I'd expect Dell to formally announce the E6x40 and E7x40 series within the next week or so. How soon things are up for ordering is anyone's guess; it's varied between different models of the last generation.

BTO systems during the first weeks of release are always slower than usual, so if you need it by the end of July, you've got til probably around the first week of July to order. I'd be surprised if they're not orderable by then, but there's no guarantee.

Tough timing for my situation. I've always been cautious to make decisions on bigger ticket items and like reading at least one impartial review on something new, like will the new IGPU negate possible need for a dedicated GPU, This may push me waaaay out of my happy place. We'll see. Thanks again for the info :).

Given that there appear to already be some review/seed models of the E6540 out there, there may be independent reviews in time to make your decision. Good luck!

Depending on timing and GPU offerings, I may end up keeping my E6430 for work and get whatever the new XPS 15 is rather than the E6540.

My thought on waiting too...it all depends on what they let out of the gate first.

That gives some basic specs but doesn't actually say which discrete GPU is the option. GTX760m would be too much to hope for, GT750m would be a decent power upgrade from the iGPU but still not quite powerful enough to replace my GTX460 desktop. Pity. I really like my docking station, but might be time to move on from dell to get what I want.

Yeah, it's thin on some specific like GPU, only "Optional 128-bit Discrete Graphics with 2GB memory".
