I use it for both work and games and it's great for both. The Alien m17 as well as the XPS1730 force you into SLI which I did not want...

I got the M6400 for work, but I got the Quadro 3700 upgrade so that it would also be able to play games. ;) And man, can it play games. First system I've had to get over 7fps in town in Morrowind! It gets 27!

(Which is funny, because Bioshock gets way over that... lol @ morrowind. But it's such a good game.)

It always makes me laugh when people say the Quadro cards can't play games.
I read somewhere that ALL Nvidia gfx cards start out as Quadros, but those that don't quite meet fault tolerances go onto become geforce cards.

So basically a quadro is just a better made geforce with better drivers for 3D apps.

I wont lie, My m1710 has been doing the trick for me, but the m6400 is calling my name... I play games and would use it for work as a DBA and report wrighter. I am thinking i'm going to wait a little bit longer, let Dell work the bugs out and maybe see if windows 7 comes along.

People don't say that quadro cards can't play games, they say the GeForce counterpart is the better deal, because you don't need to pay for the driver certification.

I hate to be pedantic Intoxicate. I'm not saying you said that Quadros can't game, but over the years on many boards I've personally seen many people say that Quadros are meant for design work and can't game anywhere near the GeForces. Which is obviously rubbish. But, yeah, the Quadros do come at a premium.
