Well the Quadro FX 3700 is not the best card for gaming + you need to pay a lot just for the cad certifications. I would wait for the new Centrino 2 XPS...

Nevertheless the M6400 will play games quit well.

Yeah wonder if its possible to swap out the Quadro for a GeForce. But gamers'd probly go for Alienware m17 or something, better 3Dmark score & cheaper.

It rocks with games! Best I ever seen! Highest res and highest quality in Dead Space, Gears of War, Silent Hill 5, Fallout 3 (lowered the LOD distance a little)

However, two things; on occasion it has frozen and crashed, but not BSD several times. It also gets really hot and this may have something to do with the freezing. I keep the back elevated so it helps draw cool air from the bottom for the 3 vents. This is mainly in Dead Space when it really gets hot.

Nevertheless, it will play games and do it quite well. Of course the higher the quality and res the likely the hotter it gets. It does cool off quick and the fans provide ample circulation inside.

    Get your game on!!

It plays Left4Dead better than my M1730, so I'm happy (and my M1730 is only a few months old with dual 8800gtx cards, X9000, 4gb)

I actually bought my M6400 as a jack of all trades. I've had 3 precisions and about 6 Inspirons and generally prefer the Precisions. Despite what people believe the Quadro cards are as fast as those on their XPS cousins.

My issue is the built in speakers sound awful, and there is noise on the headphone jack line, even when mute. I'm wondering whether this is because of the IDT sound card, or whether I have a poor machine. My M6300 and XPS gen2 sound fine using headphones and have no line noise. Plus it sounded like the sounds on L4D were distant or missing. Music sounds much more sibiliant on the M6400 too. Maybe I have further driver issues :(

EDIT: A complete reinstall of the factory image got rid of the line noise! I'll test L4D tomorrow night. I supect the fact I was installing sound drivers to try and get the digital mic to work has caused the problem. Ok, I now need to work out how to get the digital mic to work! :D

PS. The build in speakers are still rubish though!

This card is better then the GeForce 8800gtx cards on my M1730 (although not SLIed probably).
