Precision M6600 IPS Display DIY Upgrade/Conversion Thread

I found it on my local auction someone disassembled for prats hp workstation so i got an lcd from it but it was only one tere. I found some on ebay but they are kind expensive but you can also find there full cover assembly there.

 

Any chances for M6700 upgrade, keeping touchscreen? Recently bought PremierColor model for a friend of mine and was amazed.
From what I see, touchscreen controller occupies the same space as interposer board so that would be a problem...
As i have non-touch M6700 with standard FHD display, touchscreen one has thicker assembly (13mm vs 10mm on standard). Maybe there will be some space to keep interposer board under the lcd?
Yup, I want to have cake and eat it too, but it seems possible - only space to keep both touchscreen and edp controllers seems to be a real problem. For some reason Dell never shipped this configuration.

 

I don't think you'll be able to do both IPS and touchscreen. You would need a combo IPS touchscreen panel and Dell never shipped that...
If you're only interested in touchscreen support then the process should be similar to the IPS panel upgrade. You'll have to replace the screen assembly and find all of the appropriate parts (touchscreen controller, cables) but it should work. IIRC the touchscreen and IPS display used the same larger screen assembly.

 

Touchscreen is separate element attached to (different) display bezel. It connects to controller board that sits in the same place as interposer one, and that board connects to same ribbon as camera (USB).
This means that those parts can co-exist as long as I find space to fit them physically.
