I'm trying to find out which Dell options are sucking out my $$$ comparing prices at newegg, and suprisely (I'm talking about average options like T9600 CPU, 4GO of RAM, 250GO 7200rpm HD...), I found that only HDs are really overpriced.
My first thought was to buy the M6400 at lowest price and update it on my side, but guess I will go for some options, to take advantage of Dell guaranty.
Anyone tried to compare too ? Any advices ?

I'm not in an hurry, so I will wait january/february to buy the beast. I need some feedbacks and reviews before buying it and I suppose prices will fall down too after Xmas rush.

Thats what I found too - only the hard drives are ridiculously over priced.

I'm not sure about physx. I can't find the link now, but I read somewhere that the FX3700m scores high 9000s in 3DMark06, about the same as a 9800mGTX as expected since they are both G92 chips. Hopefully this is true and those numbers can be obtained without having to do any driver mods. I guess there is a chance that the DirectX performace is crippled by the quadro driver. I have an M6400 on order and one of the first things I'm going to do when I get it is run 3DMark and Crysis. If it can't match the 9800 GeForce series then it will promptly be sent back to Dell. I'll post the gaming performace once I get the machine which will be after Oct 23...

Relax... It will match, or quite possibly beat, the 9800's performance. They are essentially the same thing.

Also, you don't have to use a quadro driver. Just go to laptopvideo2go and dl the latest forceware driver for a mobile (or desktop) part.

That system will rock any other single-card system out there.

    :)

Its got to do more than 9,000. I'm expecting well over 10k. The 3700m has 128 cores. The 770M with only 48 cores scores 6,000. The 9800M GTX has 112 cores.

If its any less than 10,000, I'll be disappointed...

    My M1730 w/ SLI 8800's pulled 11,400 in 3DMark06... So 9-10k would be good for the 3700M.
