Hello all... sorry but the search function is not working on the forums.... anyone consider the Latitude e6520 before getting the m4600.... I'm on the fence between the 2.... I do stats work mostly so I'll get a quad core and 8GB of ram on either of them... and 1080p. thanks.

    Hello

Been reading the many posts in this forum and have a question

if your using this to game which GPU do you suggest

    AMD or the 100m/2000m ?

Is the Amd really comparable to the 2000M ?

Did anyone ever find a decent SATA HDD caddy for the default optical drive bay? The one from newmodus or whomever is junk. Been using it for a few months now and I really wish there was an alternative.

Caliswain: M4600 is specifically for those who need graphics power. Do you do intense graphics editing? Also, there is huge design factor. The rest are pretty similar in terms of performance and configuring.

Dave-p: 2000M plays games alright. 1000M will suffer a good deal with the latest titles. AMD chip is worse than 2000M chip as far as I know. Think of 2000M as GTX 460M, which today is labeled on the borderline of multimedia gpu and gaming.

Maverick: Newmodeus is pretty generic. I doubt that you will find anything with better quality. I used them before and I thought the quality was pretty decent. Perhaps you got a lemon? They sell decent quality stuff according to my experiences.

I haven't kept up with the M4600 updates lately but has there been a workaround or update to get the IPS + Quadro machines working with Optimus?

My issue with the newmodeous caddy is that it doesn't fit flush like it should. It hangs out a few mm and the color is off.

Also, the Quadro 2000M is not a better card than the M5950. It will handle CAD work better, but that is pretty much it. The M5950 handles multi monitor setups better as well as much better in any sort of gaming arena. GDDR5 > GDDR3. It really isn't even fair to compare the 2000M to M5950. The M5950 is more powerful, it just suffers from some battery usage problems.

Yea I didnt make that clear in the last thread. The reason why I said that was because the 2000M overclocks a good 40% stable and that is why it has been stuck in my head that it performs better than the oced AMD.

Anyways, the newmodeus thing did not flush with mine neither. Not as good as dell's ODD. Is this one tailored for the M4500/M6600? I mean they probably use machinery to produce the same caddys and so the chances are any other stock will be the same as yours. Either they screwed up or your standards are tight :D

That's why I explicitly stated: The IPS in the Dell workstations is top notch, btw, not some poor cousin.

Yeah, but you made your original post sound like I was talking about any IPS panel (as being better than any TN panel), which I was not.
