Reading some NVIDA documentation on 30bit displays with Quadro, I noticed that there is a different 32 bits interface - 10 bits per component plus only 2 bits of alpha:

Thanks Chris! That was some of the best color info that I have read outside of DPReview.com 's forums.

When I get the IPS paneled machine in, I will be contacting you throughout the testing.

    Hi, eds,

great deal you have there! Getting a 2820QM for that price is just exceptional. One thing to consider though is the screen: Working with Solidworks on that resolution may not be too enjoyable...unless you attach an external screen to it.

Current ST/Genesis solution features 10/14 bit Processing with only 8 bit LUT.
That is why you would not see over 98% Grayscale performance after the calibration across DELL Ultrasharp series as well as ASUS PA246Q, not to mention HP Elitebook Series.

It only happens with my CPU fan. I'm getting a replacement fan sent to me so I'll see if that fixes anything.

Yea originally I was just going to go with a i5 or dual i7 but I heard the quad is better for rendering in Solidworks so I set out to find a good deal on a quad. As far as the screen goes...I think 90% of the time it'll stay closed on the desk and I will be hooking it up to a 24" monitor when doing Solidworks.

    Thanks guys for the suggestions!

kevinshiong I have to say I'm abit jealous of your deal...just because of the screen you managed to grab.

I had the configuation I posted in my shopping cart.. and kept refreshing it so they wouldn't take it out of my shopping cart.. I didn't know they took it out after an hour even if you show activity so I lost it and the Bots picked it up. After a night long battle against the Bot Scripters in the Outlet I found a easy way to beat them! and I was able to get my 4600 back.. right as I got it in my shopping cart I payed for it to make sure I didn't lose it again.. it'll be here Thursday.. I can't wait! This is a HUGE upgrade from my Compaq Cq50-139wm that I picked up for $298 a few years ago... goodbye Celeron, 160gb, 2gb,and integerated graphics and hello quad core, 500gb, 8gb, and AMD Firepro.

Looks like I'm joining the M4600 family.

You just don't get it , do you ?

Most professional monitors do have high precision luts(14-16 bit LUT). Whatever 8 bit(DVI-D) or 10 bit output (Displayport) it is for high end professional monitors will bring the end user exactly the same color reproduction. For NEC P241W as the example, 8 bit output ouf of 14 bit LUT, 10 bit output (with additional requirement to meet) ouf of 14 bit 3D LUT.
