Everything feels solid right now. I played around the i,k letters on the keyboard and didn't notice anything that had me concerned.

What's the deal with the partitions

What's does the "recovery" partition contain?

Dell uses the recovery partition to keep a image of the factory OS install. Since I always format and do a fresh install I usually erase this partition. But if you didn't get the OS install disk from Dell I wouldn't recommend deleting this partition.

That's what I figured. Just double checking. I did get mine with media and already reinstalled a fresh copy of windows 7.

I ended up deleting the precision on partition because I'll never use it. Frankly I don't understand why someone would use that feature.

The question is can use the recovery drive to store images and backups?

    Hmm.

Has anyone used the Precision On ?? Never used it before. Does it run a cut down version of windows 7? How does it store your email data?

Initial impressions are that this machine is pretty heavy.
Its basically a E6510 with a different lid, I dont have a direct comparison between the two but you can draw your own conclusions.

Cooling seems very good and overall rigidity is what you expect from a mobile workstation.
