I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but I've looked pretty hard and haven't found anything definitive.

Has anyone found a DisplayPort to HDMI cable that transmits both video and audio? I've read that the port on the M4500 should be capable of doing so, but I haven't had any success with the cable I ordered from MonoPrice. Would love to hook it up to my TV and get surround out of it.

My Monoprice DP->HDMI cable works fine with a TV - though I have a problem in that the TV picture and sound will "black out" for 5-10 seconds intermittently.

Maybe the audio setting isn't getting automatically changed? Try opening the Playback devices tab and set the HDMI connection to default and then restart an application.

Here's the configuration in detail: it drives a 30" and 23" monitor on my desk and 30" at home.

I have just installed the 64 GB Mini SSD card (after Dell finally sold one to me) in my system. When docked, I have the following drive configuration:

1.) Internal drive: 128 GB SSD drive
    2.) 64 GB Mini SSD
3.) eSATA drive connected to notebook
4.) eSATA drive connected to docking station

If all the devices above are present, the system tries to boot the MiniSSD whenever it should boot the Internal Drive (either selected from boot menu or by prevalence in the boot sequence). In other words, you have to select "Mini SSD" to boot the internal drive and vice versa.

Also, the system will display one additional, non-existent eSATA drive in this situation.

If you turn off either one or both of the eSATA drives, the boot is normal.

If anybody reading this can duplicate my configuration (internal drive, MiniSSD, both eSATA drives) I would be really interested to see the results!

How did you get the card? I heard they stopped selling them. I did not get my machine with one. Are you trying to boot from it?

Ordered through my employer in Germany (even though I am in Canada). I understand that they had to get a supervisor to make the card available. But at this time, other options for mSATA cards in the right form factor do appear (Intel, for example), so it might be easier to order one of these.

Booting from the card is no problem, as long as no more than one eSATA drive is online (see my original post on this). You can either set the priority of the MiniSSD higher than the internal drive or press F12 and select "MiniSSD" from the list.

    Hello all,

Just picked up a Precision M4500 with the Intel Core I7-940XM and F1800M graphics.

Since the processor is an "extreme series" processor, I understand that the multiplier is unlocked.

Anyone had any success in overclocking this processor in the M4500? If so, can you share your method and what results you achieved?

Thanks. Looks tedious be not impossible to install post-hoc. I saw a post on using a link to your user profile. Was this how you installed?

I wonder if anyone has used other sources of cards? There look to be several all at about $200. <<<< EDITED, DELL NOW HAS IN STOCK:

It is not hard to overclock the graphics card. Do some searching. I manged to do it. I recall that the processor is another story. I have a ton of apps on my desktop but the crucial one was GPUTool_CTP1 and various temperature monitors to prevent frying.
