Performance is very good, in some cases hard to tell the difference between my M6500.

I don't see any issues with throttling either, even on battery. If there is demand the CPU is up to max frequency.

Just wanted to echo the comments on the heat/cooling. I think it's been great. The thing is basically silent. I do find the HDD to bit noisier than I expected. Anyone else experience this (it is a 250gig/7200) I can hear it crunching away (not bad noise as far as I'm concerned).

Also, I found the default 1920 x 1080 to honestly just be too small for my taste. I tried increasing the font size and so forth but ended up creating a custom resolution 1600 x 900 in the nvidia control panel.

Hello guys I'm new here. Is there any chance that the M4500 could be equipted with usb 3.0 or a RGB LED panel? Or an extra 2 dimms for memory just like the thinkpad w510 and hp 8540w? Thx!:D

I think you can buy RGBs panel, whatever the s means. There would be a chance for USB 3, if some USB ports were on a doughterboard like in M6500 (guys?). There is no chance for 4 DIMMs

    Hallo forum,

I am not right sure with the build in ssd.

Dell offers the same time wwan and mini pci express ssd, but the mini pci slot slot is labels wwan/ssd and it is only one slot.
I marked it with 1 on the picture from the link further on.

On the other hand, it is not possible to add the instant on flash and the ssd same time on the dell configuration page, so eventuelly the ssd is seated at the spot marked 2 (the one from the Instant On Flash) .

Is that true, that, if I buy the M4500 with mini express ssd, I can´t use the wwan annymore?

If the slot number 2 (the one from the Instant On Flash) ist the SSD slot, it seams so, that the miniexpress ssd is a half size one?

    regards,
    Dirk

Can anyone confirms that this bay (hxxp://newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=224) is compatible with the M4500?

The speakers are not the greatest. I listened to some music last night and was not overly impressed as compared to some of my previous notebooks in terms of sound quality. Biggest issue for me was that speakers sounded a bit hollow.

For me though, it's not a big deal. I rarely if ever use the onboard speakers.

My E6500 sounded like crap with the IDT audio driver. I got rid of that and let Vista use its own audio driver, which has been a lot better.

I had a 250gb, 7200-rpm HD and it was louder and vibrated more than my current 500gb, 5400-rpm HD. It was a Seagate, and I got it stock from Dell.
