    5.4 - Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9400 @ 2.53GHz
    5.9 - Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB
    3.6 - Graphics NVIDIA Quadro FX 370M
4.7 - Gaming graphics 1017 MB Total available graphics memory
    5.8 - Primary hard disk 194GB Free (233GB Total)

Keep in mind I'm running Vista 64-bit. 4GB of ram should be in the mail today or tomorrow, so I'm curious how that will change things.

I'm using the driver from dell's site, rev A01, 8/13/08. I've not tweaked or messed with anything on the system so far. I am downloading 3dMark06 to see how it fares with 3D stuff.

EDIT: New BIOS (A02), dropped the gfx score to 3.5.
    EDIT2:

    3dMark06 Scores with 176.07 (Dell drivers) @ 1280x800
    1847 Total
    704 SM2.0
    616 SM3.0
    2296 CPU

    EDIT3:

    3dMark06 scores with 177.93 @ 1280x800
    1623 Total
    550 SM2.0
    603 SM3.0
    2296 CPU

    Hi guys.
How does M2400 perform in video such as while being connected to an HDTV through Display Port via HDMI adapter?
One criterion to meet before I get this lappy would be to perform well in this area.
    Thanks.

hi pineapple, i posted about this earlier in the thread. absolutely fantastic.

i have the displayport-hdmi adapter that dell sells as an accessory to the m2400. under vista, there is absolutely no problem. i connect the m2400 via a yamaha AV receiver to a sony LCD tv.

three modes : single, in which case, 1920x1080 can be output to the TV at 1080p, 1080i or 1080/24.

clone, in which case the maximum 1440x900 can be output to both displays, but i tend to use 1280x720 which doesnt distort the image on my HDTV. the HDTV shows its mode as 720p. i needed to adjust the picture size to address overscan; but this is done very easily in nvidia's control panel (under resize HDTV desktop)

and dualview, in which case 1920x1080 can be output to the TV as b4, and the notebook operates at 1440x900.

sound is also output - you may want to uninstall IDT's drivers and use the native vista "High Definition Audio Device" ones. The sound seems be to of a higher quality with vista's native drivers. Using them, i can output the following encodings to my receiver (the limiting factor maybe the receiver, not the notebook) :

some screen shots of the nvidia control panel for this GPU :

i dont think any of the above works in XP, or anywhere close to as well. the sound is definitely garbage under XP.

Played some Flatout Ultimate Carnage on my laptop while watching the temps. The CPU stays around 50-55C, while the graphics card held ramped up to and held 90C. GPUz showed the core and ram both went from ~100mhz to 540 and 400 respectively. I'm not sure how that is on heat, but the laptop seemed to take the stress just fine. There was no drop in framerate or studdering. I did have to play the game at 720x480 in order to get a decent framerate, though, so don't expect high-speed full resolution gaming.

On a sidenote, Dell Control Point is getting on my nerves. It seems to randomly turn hardware off and on without letting me know (between sleeps). Last time, I couldn't figure out why Glass wasn't working. Turns out it had set my colors down to 16bit and the refresh rate to 40hz after I had specifically disabled that feature. If I could trap the BIOS calls it is making, I would write my own app to take care of it.

I did a fresh install of both XP and Vista. In both cases, I gave the DCP install a miss, and the machine functions fully -- from the volume keys to the screen brightness keys, even the auto sensor dimming works.

Just a quick question is the M2400 a LED screen? On the Dell Canadian website I only have, Wide Screen WXGA+ LCD Panel, as an option. Would I have to talk to a rep to get the LED screen if it is even an option.
