Is the 7540 body much tighter than the 7740? Therefore, in the cramped case of 7540, will the video card and processor become more heated?

I think that the heatsink/fan assembly is the defining thing here, not the size of the entire laptop. Though it seems that in prior generations, the 15" and 17" systems have basically the same thermal performance on the CPU.
(The NVIDIA GPUs will power throttle before they thermal throttle in almost all cases, in my experience.)

anyone know for the 7750 is it going to be the same with 2 ram slots behind the keyboard and 2 easily accessible from the back?

What is the maximum frequency RAM can be installed in 7740?
    Will the 7750 have Wi-Fi 802.11ax?

Not sure about the RAM. I personally wouldn't install anything faster than what Dell ships. If you want to improve on that, get RAM of the same frequency with the lowest possible CL. Some users have had issues with higher frequency RAM in the 7X30/7X40 systems.
Yes, 7750 has 802.11ax / Wi-Fi 6 listed on the spec sheet. It has an Intel AX201 card.

This won't be confirmed until the service manual is posted (should be around the same time that the systems go on sale), but they've been doing this forever, I don't have any reason to expect that the new systems will be different.

Quadro T2000 is mentioned in the 7550 specs, but not in the 7750. Sounds strange, it might be a mistake?

About being 20% smaller, we could use the dimensions to calculate the volume.

    7540: 377.6 x 251.3 x (29.95 + 25)/2 = 2607 cm^3
    7550: 360 x 242 x (27.36 + 25)/2 = 2280 cm^3 (13% smaller)

    7740: 414.2 x 273.7 x (30.3 + 26.15)/2 = 3200 cm^3
    7750: 400 x 263.6 x (28.6 + 25.98)/2 = 2877 cm^3 (10% smaller)

So yes, doesn't add up. Also the specified weight for both 7750 and 7540 is 40 grams lighter, so only a 1.5% weight reduction, which is also strange.

One more thing I just noticed is that they still offer the choice between a larger or a smaller battery. In 7540 the larger battery was only possible if you had no 2.5 inch drive. Now that they went with only M.2 drives they could have chose to keep only the larger battery (the price difference is quite small), yet the smaller battery option still exists.

    Yes I'm available for questions.

On the 5 series systems, 5550 & 5750, you can plug power into any Type C port. you don't have to use a specific one.

Yes 2 memory DIMMs are location under the keyboard and 2 are under the bottom cover.

The starting at weight for the 7550 is 5.5lbs and on the 7750 6.8lbs.

Current base memory is running at 2933MHz with our SuperSpeed offering of 3200MHz at launch and 3466MHz coming soon.

There is no T2000 on the 7750. You can get UMA only configurations with an CPU.

Mario for the 7750 do you have the details on who manufactures the two 500 nits screens being offered and their model numbers? because I don't believe you offered IPS screens on the 7740 or 7730...

    For 7550/7750:

    * Are the same power adapters used as with previous systems? (180W for 7550, 240W for 7750) If not, are the power adapters cross-compatible with previous systems?
    * Precision 7540 got Quadro RTX 4000 and RTX 5000 GPUs later in its life, but they had a lower power cap than they had in the Precision 7740 (80W vs 110W, I believe). Is this still the case for the Precision 7550/7750? Do RTX 4000 and RTX 5000 still have the same power cap in both systems?
    * Assuming the current set of *19* docks are compatible with the new systems? What about TB18DC?
    * Anything else notable that you would like to point out to the community regarding these new systems? What differentiates these from the 7X40 systems?

A few specific questions that I'm interested to get your take on, if there is anything that you can offer:

    * I'm curious about the decision not to offer any AMD-based GPUs (even though all of my systems have NVIDIA GPUs and I wouldn't buy one with an AMD GPU). Does it just not make sense to offer them anymore? (Low sales / Intel GPU is "good enough" for people who don't need NVIDIA)
    * I'm interested in the DGFF graphics card situation in particular. A few in this community have successfully upgraded Precision 7530 systems and added newer Quadro RTX GPUs, because the DGFF card form factor is the same between 7530 and 7540, and the 7540 heatsinks are physically compatible with the 7530 as well. It does not look like this will be possible going forward, as the DGFF form factor has changed. I am wondering, though: Is the form factor the same between the 7550 and 7750, or are you still using different card sizes between 15" and 17" systems?
    * There is a lot of interest here in the AMD Ryzen CPUs since they have over the past year or two started to become very competitive with what Intel is putting out, offering similar or better performance at a lower power footprint. This year's Zen 2 mobile CPUs (Ryzen 4600H and 4800H) in particular seem to make AMD competitive in the high-end mobile CPU space for the first time in quite a while. Is building an AMD-based Precision 7000-series system something that your team is considering or would consider? Is there anything specific that is lacking in the AMD platform that is putting you off from building such a system?
    * It doesn't look like it but I am wondering if any of the displays options support variable refresh rate (FreeSync or G-Sync)? (I would be especially interested in seeing this added.)

Finally I'd like to register my complaint that the Home/End key situation is messed up again, sharing with the F11 and F12 keys now... Forcing a Fn press either when using Home/End or when using the F1-F12 keys. (As a software developer, I use both sets of keys all of the time.) Will have to look into remapping Home/End to those calculator "CE" and "+/-" keys.
