Ouch... a 30% difference between the 5760 and the 7560. It's quite big with 11th gen since they scale much better with power compared to 10th gen.

Yeah, no undervolting. I tried to modify the voltage curves for two generations of Quadro (the P3200 that my 7530 came with, and my RTX 5000 now), and they are quite abysmal:

The funny thing is that the frequency/voltage curve starts at 1.3 GHz, when the RTX 5000 is so intensely power- and thermal-constrained that it never even exceeds 1.2 GHz in practice, and is stuck at 0.703 V. What I wouldn't give to drop that to 0.5, and eke out more performance...

Technically we also need a TB4 based eGPU enclosure to reap the benefits of the bandwidth increase of TB4 (32Gbps vs 22Gbps). Although I have yet to see any announcements based on the new JHL8540 TB4 discrete chip.

Ouch... hope the A4000 doesn't throttle that bad. Even on my XPS, I can get pretty sustainable 1750mhz clocks (the 1650 has much much less cores, but still)
Are GPU's even unstable with a little bit of undervolitng (around -.020V)? Since I have a 85mv undervolt on my 1650 and it's kind of unstable; there is a non-computer crashing error 1-2 times a day and a full system crash every two days.

My Precision 7760 should be arriving today! About a month ahead of schedule. I posted the specs in the pre-release thread, for reference though, here they are again...
    • Intel Core i9 11950H
    • nVidia Quadro RTX A5000
    • 4K display w/ IR Cam & WLAN (no WWAN)
    • 8GB memory (will be replace - see below)
    • 256GB SSD (will be replaced - see below)
    • Palmrest Fingerprint Reader, Smart card Reader, & NFC
    • Backlit Keyboard
    • Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX210 Wireless Card with Bluetooth 5.2
    • 6 Cell 95Whr Long Life Cycle Lithium Ion Polymer Battery (3 Years Warranty)
In addition, I plan on adding the following:
    • 1 x 2TB Samsung 980 PRO (going into the single PCIe gen 4 slot)
    • 3 x 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus (going into the other PCIe gen 3 slots)
    • 128GB Crucial Ballistix 3200Mhz RAM
Unfortunately, the RAM isn't going to be here until tomorrow. The SSDs are already here and one is coming from my Precision 7730. Assuming the laptop does arrive today, I'll add the SSDs tonight and then add the RAM tomorrow night. When I go to replace the RAM, I'll also check to see if the 8GB SO DIMM is single vs. double ranked given that seems to be a hot topic of late.

I'd like to go through a few of the benchmarks that are listed on the top post and post the results here (assuming I have some free time over the next couple days / weekend).

Nice, mine is arriving tomorrow night and it is the same as yours except for an A4000 instead of an A5000.
The more I look in single rank and double rank, the more confused I get. Does it even matter? And if so, which one is better? Or are you referring to high density RAM (different from single and double rank)?

Let us know ASAP if that RAM works since I need some RAM soon :) Make sure to check the timings and frequency of the RAM after it's installed.

Do you plan on running 3dmark TimeSpy? Curious if the graphics score sits around 11k as a stock 115W RTX 3070 does. The pricing is pretty good on the upgrade, only $800 from the base integrated graphics. Also curious about fan noise. In theory it should be better compared to previous gen, given that both the CPU and GPU are on a smaller process node.

Yes, I will do 3dmark TimeSpy, but it might be handicapped by the slower RAM from my XPS (I will re-benchmark when I get faster ram). I would expect the fan noise to be quieter under medium loads, but louder under full load as the GPU can now take 5W more. However, I prefer a louder system with better cooling since I always wear headphones.

Would the difference between 2666Hz and 3200Hz ram be noticible overall for work-related tasks? I always thought that at these points, you were really starting to hit diminishing returns on RAM performance with increased frequencies; so I was planning on just switching the sticks from my 7740 with the single stick on the 7760.

Unless you're doing pretty computationally intense workloads, I doubt you'd notice the difference.
