Remains to be seen for sure but (as speculated previously) flashing the vBIOS from the 7750 versions of the cards might be all that is needed to raise the power limit in the 7550. This previously worked with the Quadro P3200 card which was shared between the Precision 7530 and 7730. Just need to wait until some 7750's are out there so that we can get the vBIOS dumps... and for some guinea pig who feels up for it to try it :p.

I recalled seeing in the specifications guide that both the 7550 and 7750 had RTX 3000 80W..

We could always ask Dell, but there's a 99% chance they won't do anything. Once the designs are finalized (many months before announcement to the public is made), there is no changing it.

I'm actually more curious if the 7550 and 7540 RTX 3000, 4000 and 5000 have the same VBIOS. If they do (which is perfectly possible), then I might try to cross-flash from these DGFFs into mine.

Still salty about the 80 W RTX 5000.

Have you checked if MaxxAudio is enabled? Disabling it on the 7530/40 also leads to drastically worse sound quality.

So I just finished a repaste. Couldn't help myself heh heh...

Easiest repaste I've ever done. 10 minutes start to finish.

The bottom cover is very easy to remove now that the clips have loosened up after a few cover removals.

@Ionising_Radiation here is a pic of the DGFF. It appears to have shrunk even further.

    Doing thermal testing now.

As you can see in the snapshot below, a simple repaste with some KPx has allowed me to extract about 10-15W more during the boost period! With the stock paste, the Xeon W struggled to draw more than 100W at any time.

I did notice that total system power spiked at about 176W; the adaptor is limited to 180W so I really wonder if a 240W one would make any difference...

Oh, wow. That motherboard is just nakedly hanging off the chassis? That does not look good. It just overall looks a lot more cramped than the 7530/40 does, and I suppose that's how Dell managed the smaller chassis.

That said, the thermals are really impressive. We should wait and see how it develops over time, because I have noticed that my Precision's thermal performance tends to worsen over time as the thermal paste moves around etc, due to loose heatsink contact.

    Doesn't thermal repasting void warranty?

Not at all. In fact, the Precisions, as long as you get ProSupport, come with some of the loosest warranty terms I've ever seen. I mean, I've upgraded my graphics card, and have not been denied repair or service. Dell Precisions are the antitheses of Apple MacBooks.

    No way! :):)

I thought for sure it would void warranty.
I've thought about repasting my 1.5 year old precision 7730, but was ruled it out due to warranty concerns. I should repaste. :)
