Well, just bought the high end 7720 (see specs on previous page) instead of the 7730 as I can't stand to have docking issues when I plug and un-plug (which happens two-three times per day or more). My e-port dock will live on in continual use.
Also bought the 18,000mAh Power Companion and will let you know how well that works with the 7720.

Since the battery in the 7720 is easily replaced (no screws needed), I'll be buying a second 97Whr battery and off-brand external charger for it (that supposedly works with the 7730 battery too) and I'll report back on how that goes.

About a week to get the system from Dell and a few days to load it up with all the SW and working files before it can get into full use.

When I ordered the 7720 I told the Dell sales guy about all the issues with the TB dock for the 7730 that people were having and all he could say is that he knew Dell was working on the issues, but had no idea when they might be resolved.

Installed the Crucial memory, 2x16GB, DDR4-2666 CL19. This is in addition to the Dell-supplied 2x16GB that came in my system, for 64GB total. Everything seems fine.

I confirm Aaron! Crucial is working fine for me too. I had 16gb installed and used two more for a Total of 32gb. run really fine. Also made some test with dell sw.
I've rendered uhd for about 20 min without having problems CPU full load at 3,6 / 3,3 MHz at 100%. The system run also cool about 85°c CPU core, fan Speed at 3800rpm. Seems a real good and stable machine for render medium scene, about 20milion polygons.
    That's my First impressions..

I picked up a HP ex920 1TB new off ebay for $230 with one of their frequent coupons. I have a 512GB 960 Pro as well, and they are fairly comparable.

So the sales rep lied / or was just ignorant. They do sell this part by itself. For anyone else needing these, here are the part numbers for the M.2 Bracket and heat shield next to the battery on the 7730, might work for 7530 too, don't know. They were each $5 + shipping.

    Thermal Plate: 1J2CX
    SSD Bracket: 8FT91
