    That's a bummer. Hopefully not a connector/mobo failure...

Out of curiosity, which display do you have?

    I hope not, too... :(

    The non-touch, 72% gamut Full-HD one (i.e. the 6-bit panel with dithering).

I'm secretly hoping my replacement display is 8-bit and has an unofficially 'wider' gamut...

    How will you check this?

PC Settings → System → Display → Advanced display settings, and you see this screen:

My 7530 with a 4K display has arrived. I tried to install an WWAN card but I realized that there was a SIM slot but no slot cover as in Dell’s manual. Is it same with other 7530s w/ a HD display???

Send it back at once. There is definitely supposed to be a cover there.

Thank you. I’ve just wondered if there is a magical way to set a SIM card there. I will do so.

    Some further updates:

The screen apparently only noticeably flickers and dims to near-black when the notebook is running on battery power.

If the charger is plugged back in when the behaviour is exhibited, the display instantaneously reverts back to normal. Methinks there is some unknown power issue; the display cable could be an issue, too. I'll see what the technician says on Friday.

A more personal note: I am thoroughly displeased with the quality control on what is supposed to be a 'workstation'; furthermore, this laptop is a particular pain to repair, or upgrade. One has to remove some two dozen screws and the entire palm-rest before getting to the internals. There is noticeable flex at the touchpad area, and the fact that the display is 6-bit is seriously irritating. I can let 60 Hz pass; I can let no G-Sync pass, but 6-bit with dithering, on a $3000 machine? What the hell, Dell?

    A $3000 supposed "workstation" which:
    • cannot handle mono sound using Edge/Groove Music through WD15 dock
    • has amazingly high audio latency
    • has bleeding backlight LCD display

Not sure about that? 4K with WWAN isn't a "supported" configuration.
(That said, I looked at the photo of my 4K 7530 and it does indeed appear to have a cover...)
