I finally got my 7530 with ubuntu and tb18dc.
I had to make slight adjustments in BIOS for the dock to be functional. External display worked out of the box. I had to remove TB security for the dock's USB and ethernet ports to work.
I had keyboard issues, apparently solved with c-state trick. Mouse worked fine, though.

I updated ubuntu, then switched to kubuntu. I'm looking forward to upgrading to kubuntu 18.04, but there seems to be fewer Dell repositories for 18.04 so I'll have to take a deeper look into that (I don't know if Dell specific software or drivers are needed).
So far my main satisfaction is that the dock is functional in Linux.
    I expected a faster boot.

I noticed RAM sticks are in slots B and D. Do you guys know if these are the ones located under the keyboard? Thanks.

The disassembly article at Laptopmain.com (https://www.laptopmain.com/dell-precision-7530-disassembly/) contains photos showing the memory slot labels. Slots B and D are under the keyboard.

I actually have the following issue: I cannot play any single channel (mono) mp3 file with Groove Music/Windows Media Player through WD15 dock.

Did someone else encountered a similar problem?

Some very strange behaviour: my display randomly flickers at high frequency, randomly dims of its own accord, and sometimes the pixels turn blank altogether, only leaving the backlight...

Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?

Do the following keystroke solve the issue?

Does anyone know the Dell part# for the 7730 keyboard and keyboard lattice? Does anyone know if that keyboard works in a 7720 or 7710?

Alright, third time calling Dell in for my notebook, because my display's back-light flickers randomly, goes extremely dim, and generally has become a pain in the neck.

It's a saving grace that ProSupport is 24/7 and so darn quick.
