That's a very good advice. It helped in my case (it was something that Dell technician did). Two additional remarks - try not to put too much pressure when assembling the bezel - the adhesive tape might be partially responsible for the excessive "bleeding" effect. Also, use special nylon-coated prying tool. They are very helpful, if you want to avoid accidental scratches.

I spoke to Dell support and sent screenshots of HWiNFO and HWMonitor Pro showing the wear level and after some pushing (and maybe because I paid for Dell ProSupport) they offered to send out a replacement battery though the battery would be refurbished. They gave some explanation that even a new battery that is not retail boxed cannot be labeled as new when a pallet of bulk batteries come to their factory and they open the pallet. I mentioned too that refurbished could also be a new battery that broke or did not functional properly and was fixed.

Question: should I keep the refurbished battery assuming it has almost no wear or the new battery that came with laptop with 5% wear?

Dell Pro support came out today and replaced the panel. MUCH better. A little backlight bleed in the center but I am satisfied for now.

I did notice that the left "CTRL" key makes a slight "crunching" sound when I press it. I may need to have them replace the keyboard. Otherwise the system is running decent.

Yes, all bleeding is due to the bezel pushing agains the screen. You can try to peel it off partly and attach it more careful. The Bezel is attached with some tape in addition to normal "clips" (don't find the correct word for it). But first, try with you finger nail to loosen it just below the spots.

I feel like this shouldn't work out, but with the throttling issues I looked up other CPU options... is it true that the max cpu on the 7730, i9-8850h, is actually slower than an i7-8700?
Clock speeds and benchmark comparisons seem to hint at it.

I saw other manufacturers offer this cpu instead and was surprised by the stats indeed.

    Dell doesn't change
Indeed, the 8850H (mobile) is 4.3 GHz max turbo and the 8700 (desktop) is 4.6 GHz max turbo. Dell doesn't limit the maximum turbo clock speed below the Intel-set rate.

Looking for a new laptop with lots of RAM and Linux capable - gravitated towards Precision 7530 and found this site.

Has anyone purchased with Ubuntu installed? Any problems experienced, specifically with Linux?

I am considering 32GB RAM initially, upgrading to 128GB when prices reduce.

    Newbie questions

    - does Dell have to supply and install the RAM, or can I do it myself.

    - What happens to the three year warranty if I do the install with non-Dell RAM myself?

Cannot find much on the Net around these questions, and confess to not having read more than the last 6 pages of the thread.
