To add to your list of Pros, I run Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD exclusively inside VMWare Workstation Pro/Player 12 and have zero complaints. I would almost venture to say that it runs as well in a VM as my previous Precision (M6400) ran natively. I have the Quadro M2000M that you have. Keep in mind I am running a Samsung 950 Pro so that should help a lot with the VM.

Regarding the Samsung 950 Pro and VMWare on this machine, I get ~2300MB/s read speeds natively in Windows 10 and inside a Windows 10 virtual machine, I average around ~1600MB/s read. It's a decent hit, but when I consider my previous build was running an SSD that topped out at ~500MB/s read, I am still 3x+ better.

    Hi,
I'm about to jump in and replace my m3800 with a 7510.
Quick question: the m3800 has a msata drive and I changed the 256 GB drive with a 1TB samsung msata one. Does the the 7510 have a msata connector so I can re-use the 1TB drive? I also already have a 2TB 2.5 samsung Evo which I will use in the 2.5 drive bay.

New panel installed. Swap is straightforward, much like other panel swaps on other laptops that I have done in the past. The inside edge of the bezel is attached to the outside edge of the panel with some sort of sticky stuff, so getting it loose at the beginning can be a trick. I used a small knife to poke up in there and pry off the first bit, starting at the upper right corner of the screen. Once you get some of it loose, the rest comes easy.

New panel is much better. I was put off at first with the outer edge of the panel having brighter colors than the rest. This goes away after the panel has been on for 10-15 minutes. I've heard it is normal for IPS displays to have some color settling until they have been on for a while. This is my first laptop IPS panel.

Anyway, I can look at it now without cringing, so I guess I'll keep it.

My fingerprint reader has not been working as I mentioned in another post. Dell came and swapped out my palmrest (includes the fingerprint reader) and that did not solve the problem. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the TPM chip setup. Our organization uses BitLocker and it automatically activates and configures the TPM when connected to the domain. It might have automatically hopped past a step needed to get the fingerprint reader to present itself. I've tried resetting various things without success. Waiting for someone at Dell who knows some details about this process to comment.

I would not say that is normal. Maybe you talk about bleeding, but it does not disappear by itself.
    Can you post a picture?

I tried to read the complete thread but it's difficult to find exact information...

I assume the UltraSharp Ultra HD IGZO is good but I cannot find how bright it is (in nits)
I want to know this because I like to work outside in the garden (under roof)

    Thanks in advance!!

I'm very skeptical this is a hardware problem, but let us know how the replacement goes...

Previous M3800 owner here. Unfortunately, you won't be able to reuse that SSD in this machine without an adapter of some sort. I'd be willing to bet an mSata -> Sata adapter exists (quick google search), but natively the laptop doesn't support them.

There is no mSATA port on this machine. It uses M.2 2280 instead. As mentioned, you can get an mSATA->SATA adapter to mount the mSATA drive, but that would eat up your 2.5" drive bay and you will not be able to install the 2TB Samsung Evo.
