One thing I just reminded is about changing resolution from 4k to 1080p in Ubuntu when auto video card switch is disabled in BIOS. You won't see any other available resolution options except 4k in "Displays" dialog. In this case, if you change it with nvidia video card settings window, it works fine at first glance. But if you logout and login, the weird thing happens: the resolution is still 1080p, however the desktop area will be expanded to a 4k area and the mouse pointer position to screen pixel mapping will be totally broken that you cannot click what you mean to click but somewhere else on the screen.

You can use "xrandr -s 1920x1080" to change the resolution from 4k to 1080p temporarily for the desktop session, but it doesn't persist. I haven't figured out a way to persist it (tried a few ways, but no luck).

If you enabled auto video card switch, you can see a lot of resolution options and the desktop resolution can be remembered as 1080p, but before logging in, the resolution will be 4k. Not too bad, just a little bit annoying.

Also, in Ubuntu, sometimes, the screen keeps black after sleep. You can switch to any console such as "Ctrl+Alt+F1", and switch back to desktop session and then it should show up.

Weird. I rebooted the machine to try to reproduce the problem with track point just now, but it's gone. Tried a few times, but still no repro with either mouse or trackpad/trackpoint. A good thing anyway.
There is a Windows update today. Not sure if it has anything to do with the problem.

OK. Had a day to play with this thing. I ordered this with the blah Seagate 5000rpm HDD because my intention was to install the Samsung 950 M.2 SSD. I didn't run any benchmarks but the response times are like night and day! My CAM software (OneCNC), Adobe CS5 Illustrator, all open almost instantaneously! I only got the 256GB since I only have Win10 and my apps on this drive. I have an 256GB 850 EVO that I will use as my secondary drive and put my data and work related stuff on (and movies and game data...)

The screen is beautiful. My first impressions are great contrast ratio, beautiful colors, and incredibly sharp detail; you almost don't see pixels with the UHD screen. I have text scaling at 200%. Maybe not as bright as the glossy screen version but I experience no glare with the overhead lights. I do notice the blacks invert slightly as I move away from direct view, but all the other colors retain their hues. The typical micro-text in some apps (ironically Samsung's) require me to use reading glasses, but I didn't find the icons on OneCNC and Adobe to be objectionable. In fact I cannot believe how much more detail and sharpness and smoothness of line I see working with 3D objects in OneCNC. I'm still using only MS Office 2007 but everything looks good there too. I hate to say this but I actually miss the touch screen of my wife's computer, it's actually useful in Windows 10.

So far no complaints with the trackpad. Seems very responsive. I don't know too many multi-touch gestures yet. A lot larger than the micro-pad on the M6500, and it feels like a real glass surface. The keyboard on the M6500 has more travel and a more mechanical-feeling keyboard, but I like the keyboard on the 5510. Also, contrary to comments above, the arrow keys are useful and I had no problems scrolling through spreadsheets. Also I thought I'd feel like others about using Fn for Home and End, but in reality having them at the BOTTOM of the keyboard I found easy to adjust, and reaching over the number pad on the M6500 started to feel cumbersome. At least to me.

As far as the fit and finish... I hate to admit, on my M6500 I was slightly disappointed by some uneven gaps, plastic armrest and sharp corners, especially when leaning against the corners, even though aesthetically I like the look overall. The 7510 just feels luxe, with the matte smoke anodized aluminum and soft touch carbon fiber lid (which is real carbon fiber weave not a sticker.) The soft rubberized palmrest area is very comfortable and I don't feel any discomfort at the beveled edges. The lid closes perfectly around and looks like all the gaps are perfectly aligned. Opening the battery cover feels like sliding the cover to a precision instrument, and most components are easily accessible via 2 screws. I feel no flex with the screen and the keyboard or palm rests, On the M6500 I'd run into problems with the palmrest flex interfering with trackpad buttons. I think even the taper of the deck and underside makes the machine look sleek. The black chrome look logo over the all matte chassis reminds me of a tuned import race car. All in all, one of the best chassis designs I've seen. I think it's flashy enough to draw attention without being gaudy or gimmicky nor bland, yet still look the all-business part - like an expensive suit.

The installed 802.11ac wireless card is very fast from first impression, and I was able to connect to a WiFi hot spot a block away at a bus stop from inside my house.

My only gripe so far are the cryptic descriptions in the BIOS. Dell, with so much room in the comments box I think a few kilobytes of data wont harm system performance. Also, more related to Microsoft, why does installing an unformatted hard drive require me to go through 3 layers of menu options to find the drive management screen? This screen should pop up automatically when Windows senses a new drive installed. Again these are two rather small quibbles. My machine delivery was delayed a week, but I'm glad that I received something that just worked right out of the box.

Yes, the NVMe 951 SSD was supplied by Dell, I ordered the 256GB performance option. I then added my own SATA SSD 512GB for mass storage with intention of adding larger 2nd nVME in the future and putting the 512GB it into an external USB3 enclosure. I am thinking in about 18months a 1TB or 2TB NVMe card will be reasonably priced.

I also ordered my system with 32GB RAM (2x16GB) and it is installed into slots 3 and 4. So the easier to access slots 1 and 2 are free for easy upgrade-ability.
