OK, well, I hope you had better luck with those W5170ms than I did. I noticed that they're sold out now.

Today I've started to investigate into connector mapping "problem" and found that Dell (as an HP) vBIOS for w5170m is eDP only and M5100 have support for both LVDS and eDP. Next step should be to identify full table of possible connections and try to swap it. I hope, it's possible:)

Whoop-de-do, not out of the woods yet. The M5100 arrived and it crashed the PC during stress testing. I thought it was a card stability issue, but now I think it's the same issue @Rippchen had way back when. The GPU fan won't run at all unless I turn it on manually, no matter how hot the card gets. As this is a laptop I'm hoping to sell, I'd rather have a nicer solution than using software to control the fans. So, any ideas?

    Dell BIOS: A16
Tried AMD Firepro generic drivers first, then M4800 Firepro drivers. Currently installed is 15.201.2701.0 which Jack2 reported as working, so I doubt they're the issue.
    vBIOS: 015.036.000.006.046365

Yeah I think I'll try flashing the vBIOS in the morning using the version from @valuxin's repository (015.036.000.006.044815, which is a higher number at the end so maybe newer?) Hopefully it won't go quite so disastrously as last time!

I tried that one, twice, it soft bricks the card for me. Easier to just mod it yourself.

Of course that was just my experience

In my repo of original vBIOSes there are only untouched original vBIOSes:) Yeah, I have second repo with modded vBIOSes, but there are only mods for some Kepler based Quadros and FirePro M6100 only.

And one more thing - the last number in FW version mostly describe the board model type number. That means, not any M5100 will be compatible with the same FW. For ex, 044647 belongs to A0 revision board, 044815 and higher - to A1 rev board.

P.S. Added some more versions of Dell M5100 vBIOSes to my collection.

@fwip , could you share your 046365 vBIOS with me?:) As I'm going to have some experiments between M5100 and W5170M I need to have any rom that can be used:)

Hmm then maybe thats why I was never able to push 1.1v on the card. I could get the 50% power and adjusts clocks as I desired but 1.1v would never apply. What was weird was after leaving the laptop on for a couple of days, 1.1v would apply but then I would lose the ability to adjust clocks.

So I gave up and settled for 900c and 1400 memory lol.
