    I'm having a similar problem. rebooting seemed to help, but I also noticed that on the bottom of my laptop where the eport connects, the left metal contact is recessed and loose while the right contact is set and firm.

    not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I know the fn + f2 can also be an factor.

    do you have the latest BIOS?

    sorry i forgot to update this ...

    dell came out and replaced my whole mobo in the laptop .... i still didnt fix it

    came a couple of days later with the charger and it worked fine , so for me it was a power supply that eventually went faulty

    god knows why they never sent out a power supply to test it out in the first place instead of going to the hassle of changing the whole board .....
