is the new generation zbook out? The HP website/store shows older Kepler quadro still (k series) and both dimensions and weight of the HP appear marginally greater than the 7710. I must be looking at wrong HP page?

*ah nevermind, I was looking at the older G2 series zbook. G3 is the latest the maxwell quadro and is on their site now too.

Most likely it was too late. I was told that once the order status shows "In Production" it's too late to cancel. I found this out when I originally ordered a Precision 3510 in late January. A few hours later, I had second thoughts (wanted a Precision 5510 instead), and called Dell, but found out that I couldn't cancel my order. The order was shipped days later, and I immediately returned it. It is quite annoying that, in the US, one has to wait a while for the refund to process. Indeed, the refund finally appeared on my credit card last Friday.

Can you order the 7510/7710 with a Intel WiGig card? All I see is the 8260 on the ordering page which is not WiGig compatible.

Yes sir, your right - that way in Canada too.
It's a bit of a merry-go-round but I have to say the cancellation process went quickly and communication was good - Dell folks up here were helpful. Here's what happens:
1- At the point I called (3 days after ordering) it was too late to cancel so it had to go through production and be shipped. (Yea, I know - hard to believe isn't it)
2- As soon as I get notification that it actually shipped - I need to call Customer
Service again and they will try to stop shipment.
3- If they can't stop it, I need to accept shipment, notify Dell and they will provide a Prepaid Return Shipping Label but I won't get a refund 'till they get the unit back.
4- Lucky for me, I should get my refund before the billing date

Meanwhile, I have another card so today I used it to reorder the Precision 7510 this time ... Expected Delivery: Mar.21.

I don't believe so. The 8260 is the only option at the time when I ordered mine. They might add it later. Dell updated their Wireless dock back in May 2015 so I can't imagine they abandon WiGig already.

Cancelled DELL Order - No Issues

This will be of interest to some folks who find themselves in the same boat and wonder about the hassle of it all.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised or maybe just lucky?
    -

    Cancelled - DELL Precision 3510 / Canada
    -
    Here's what I did.
    • Sunday, Mar.6 ... 1st notice of cancellation ... On the "Order Details" page I clicked on the link "Report an Incorrect Order / Item" and filled out the on-line form and clicked on 'Send' or whatever it says.
    • Monday, Mar.7 ... On the "Order Details" page again -> "Contact Customer Support" -> "Customer Support Phone Numbers" -> Under the heading "Department" (Note: I did not select the number for the Home Department even though my PC is not for a Small Business) -> I phoned the "Small Business" number ... It was about mid-morning and waited maybe 4-5 minutes and talked to a friendly person who explained the whole routine and assured me that one way or the other - The order would be cancelled with no cost to me.
    • Monday, Mar. 7 ... Got a personal email that was a follow up to the online form I had started on Mar.6th. The main thing is it said I would be advised of cancellation within 24 - 48 hours.
    • Tuesday, Mar. 8 ... Checked my Order Status and the order info showed: Cancelled- Not Shipped

Anyone use the TB15 with a 7710 and three DVI monitors? The TB15 has a Display Port, Mini Displayport, and HDMI. Do the Displayport to DVI have to be active or will passive work?

Received my 7710 today, March 9.

Straight out of the box I plugged it in and booted it into the preisntalled OS (Win10). After making a local userid/pwd I immediately checked device manager for a few things I was expecting

    SM951 512GB - check
    PM951 1TB - check
    64GB RAM - check
    M5000M - no

My first thought was that it must be there but not be seen because of Nvidia Optimas (I've not used optimas before as it predated my older system).. I looked at Programs/Functions.... all of the Nvidia drivers and software were loaded (March 4, 2016 by Dell). I right clicked the desktop and clicked Nvidia Desktop Manager. Nothing happens when that is clicked or launched from Start Menu. I downloaded latest quadro drivers from Dell's website (Nvidia 354.45). Same version that Programs/Functions said I already had. When I tried installing the driver software would say "This graphics driver could not find the compatible graphics hardware.".

The only display adapter shown in any of the device manager is the Intel integrated graphics HD P530.

So I restart and enter F2 BIOS. There is nothing about the Nvidia m5000m in the BIOS. I wasn't sure if there would be. But there was an option to enable or disable Nvidia Optimas. So I disabled that hoping to awaken the missing quadro. Exit BIOS...

display would not function at all after that. Not even the splash DELL logo.. I plugged it into my Asus 2560x1440 and the external could not find a signal. So I removed large battery and the coin/CMOS battery, discharged pressing power for 15 seconds...

And since I was removing one side of the case I decided to also removed the keyboard on the flip side to see if there actually was a discreet card at all. There was the card, I could see just a little bit of it but it was there. hmmm

So I booted back into the BIOS and the display worked after the CMOS reset. It took longer to boot into the BIOS that time but I suspect it was trying to recover from the reset I performed? The Optimas option was enabled again by default as it was originally. Good.

I called ProSupport. A nice young lady worked with me over the phone for abut 2 hours. I let her remote connect for her to check. She was pretty green in that she only began at Dell Support in Jan 2016 ( found when she was hired at Dell straight out of college - *after, I googled like a creeper and found her facebook). The diagnosis was that either the card or the mobo PCIe slot was having trouble. She got the manager to approve sending me a new mobo and M5000M and a service tech. yes! But they had trouble finding the parts so tomorrow she will confer with her associates to see about finding the right parts and then send me a technician hopefully by Friday (day after tomorrow). Another option they offered was to allow me to dig into the machine, reseat the M5000M board to the mobo and see if that makes a difference. Tempting, but I prefer a pro technician. Plus I'd have to go find some thermal paste. lol. Overall, I really like the machine.

Next week I hope to report better news about the experience. *edit: I will add though, the laptop is pretty easy to access, except that keyboard is a little crazy compared with prior gens as far as removal/reassembly. Three ribbon cables that weave through to the other side of the mobo - requiring removal of the 2.5 caddy to access their ribbon connection clips. plus the keyboard overlay grid thing (I was worried I would snap some plastic but it was not bad) , plus twice as many keyboard screws... But as for the other stuff like fans, and GPU, etc. pretty straight forward to access.

Bummer. Someone else received a 7510 with a Quadro that didn't show. Tech replaced the Quadro but it still didn't show. It took a mobo replacement
