Too bad the M6800 won't have any IPS option, would have been a good option for my next notebook. Hopefully the Thinkpad refreshes will have IPS options...

I think the released dates should be around IBC.

i think it stands for international broadcast conference. abt sep 13th. Apple suppose to launch something for sep10th. May be the new wastebasket macpro. since dell is targeting the media professionals with 3800, high chance that we get to see it for IBC.

I was looking through M6700 config page on local dell website and was surprised to see that there is no IPS. I checked this forum and a lot of guys confirmed. IPS is gone. Then I enter Cover version and bam, it's there.
Anyone know what is the deal with that? I have now to pay extra for IPS + get some custom painting for the cover just to get better screen? How does that work? If IPS is still there I guess nothing is impossible on M6800.

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System IPS as standard on here.

IPS (or its updated equivalent) is a part of this laptop's niche market. I feel confident that it will always be there in some form for those that desire and are willing to pay extra for it.

I know its purely guess-work at this point but around how much will the 3200 x 1800 upgrade cost?

Well using MBP/rMBP as a guide, and knowing Dell has to be competitive, you could extrapolate and say a $300 upgrade? So that would be my guess.

On the other hand, we don't yet have sufficient information to determine whether the display will be solely higher resolution, or will also support 10bit.

If those configurations also appear, it may cost a bit more. IMHO, higher resolution retina display < HD 10 bit billion color. So it will take both of these to be of any interest to me.

It's supposed to be 8-bit per primary color 100%sRGB.
