Yes. The color calibration was also easy on the u2410. Just be aware that the u2410 has a yellow color cast for a few minutes when you first start it up. Once it warms up for a couple of minutes the colors are true and very stable. This color cast on the u2410 has nothing to do with the m6500, its just the monitor warming up.

I am currently running a 2408 and u2410 on the e port plus docking station. Both are at 1920x1200. No issues.

Ok, “yellow color cast is for a few minutes when you first start it up.”
Is this for just the first startup or is it there every time you turn on the U2410?
I’m ordering the e-stand for the M6500 as well.

dont know about how off my screen color is, but iv been using the os out of the box now, and as far as i can tell every color seems fine and very bright, but then im not using this to edit photos. But i did notice that some color calibration was done the first time i started the laptop.

I notice it in the morning. Its not a big deal. Just make sure that just like any monitor you let it run for an hour or two before calibrating. Also,
make sure to let it warm up for 30 minutes before doing any critical color work. If your not an obsessive white balance type of photgrapher, then you can disreguard the last two statements.

It should be ready for normal work in 5 minutes or less.

I came from a world where crt's changed thier color and brightness balance
much more than any lcd. I still remember paying $1200 for the dell fp2000 20" lcd and wishing it had the color of my sony or lacie CRTs. I also remember how much easier it was to stare at the fp2000 all day.

The u2410 is an awesome monitor. I only mentioned the yellow tint because it would be a shame to open the box right off a cold delivery truck and think it was broken because it has to warm up.

I went from every iteration of the 24" Dell, 2405, 2407, 2407HC 2408, and now the U2410 and the 2410 is by far the best. In terms of calibration I don't notice much of a difference from the 2408 but the 2410 has half the input lag of the 2408 which is very welcome.

Viewing angles are also WAY better but thats because of the new panel type.

I dont understand why Dell would use Control Point for color management when Windows7 has a superb color system co-designed with Canon.

Any clarification on this would be helpful.

Thank You, for the heads-up on that yellow tint. I always open the new components
and let them set at room temperature for an hour or so depending on how cold it is outside.
I am buying the M6500 for Autodesk products, etc… and Adobe Creative Suite etc…

I have a W700 that does not operate as advertised. That’s why I have ben so touchy about
the M6500, I do not need another doorstop.

Does Control Point have a color space setting for "native"? I haven't actually used the software yet, but other similar software lets you select "native," which is often a better starting point for calibration. (I'm always leary of applying two calibration curves, one to implement the color space, and then one on top of that to correct the colors.)

I'm anxious to see the Control Point software. Any chance you can post a screen shot or two showing the various color settings? (I'm surprised it doesn't also provide the ability to set gamma and whitepoint?)

Just out of curiousity, how did you measure the native gamma of 1.8?

I think Control Point is more about giving you the ability to select several "canned" monitor profiles. Windows by itself doesn't have enough information on the display characteristics to build a monitor profile that would cause it to display a specific gamut such as sRGB. The windows system works great if a specific ICC profile already exists. What may be missing in the Windows color system is the ICC profile needed to convert the LCD native display to a different gamut such as sRGB or adobeRGB. However, I don't have my system yet so I'm just speculating

Edit: Then again, maybe Control Point just provides a capability to XP users that is "built in" to Windows 7. Somehow you still need to know what ICC profile to implement though.

As measured by the datacolor spyder elite 3 colorimeter.

Will post screen shots tomorrow. Hopefully we can sort this out.
