I know the store near me is in the mall, I bargain with them all the time for a discount.

This is a very specific product, for a very specific purpose: Speeding up certain tasks in Adobe CS4, by running the code on the GPU rather than the CPU. It will do absolutely nothing for any other applications, let alone games. If you are professionally using the particular tools that this plugin enhances, then the expense may well be worth it. If you don't, then buying this would be a complete and utter waste of money. Given the very limited scope and purpose of this product, there is no reason for nVidia to bundle this with their regular drivers.

As an aside, I'd rather have them make sure the standard drivers they distribute work correctly. I mean, for months now these drivers come with certain features broken, or half broken (such as missing 2D acceleration, roughly since the 180-series), and introducing desktop flickering in Vista and above, and they somehow can't seem to get around to fixing that stuff. Sheesh...

I remember, way back when ATI was the only game in town, that company acted the same way, simply not providing adequate driver support. Which gave nVidia an opening, and the rest is history, as they say. Well, maybe not; with the massive and persistent problems we see with current nVidia drivers, I am starting to consider switching back to ATI. I wonder, how does the 1-gig card from ATI offered for the M6500 compare to the nVidia card? It's certainly a lot less expensive...
