Ah, I see that Dynamite Zerg posted here as well as messaging me, that he is not getting my 5000M card. Users locklobster (you now have dibs) and ooati, I have just now messaged you both.

Ok, well, just got a used M6500, and of course found this thread.

I was wondering if anyone had that zip archive linked to by worldww3 back on page 59 and could share a source for it? The PDF service manual, which I have, leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks in advance!

Just picked up one of these on eBay for $230! In much better condition than the auction stated and has a 920XM CPU. I've dropped in 32gb RAM, a primary 512gb SSD drive and two 250gb SSD's in RAID 0. Crystal Disk Mark benchmarks the raid volume at 465mb/sec. Wow. I've overclocked the 920XM using throttlestop and it's all really stable.

I'm using the m6500 as a virtualisation manager and host, I'm really surprised how quick this workstation is even after over four years after it was manufactured. I also own a Dell m4800 with a 4900MQ installed and whilst I'm sure benchmarks would show it being substantially quicker in actual use it feels like there is very little difference both using the m6500 directly as a client and hosting virtual machines.

I'd also forgotten how nice the display is and I'm loving 16:10 aspect ratio!

Had to re-install Win7 on the M6500 to prepare it for sale/auction and decided to try your method.

I can confirm it works! Sweet~

Nevermind. I was able to view the same PDF and with the animations by opening the manual in Win8.1 IE 11 rather than trying to use Adobe XI Reader in Win7.

I'm trying to find a version of the M6500 Service Manual where the flash animations are visible in the manual. The PDF version from Dells website either has those animations removed or the animations are no longer view-able because of Adobe versions have long since changed and are incompatible.

Is there a way for me to see those visuals/animations in the PDF or is there an HTML version of the service manual (instead of the PDF file version)?

I'm trying to get clear instructions for removing the display assembly, palm rest and CPU heatsink, etc. But the service manuals typed instructions are too vague without the visuals.

    Thank you!

I own an M6500. And I'm having a major problem.

I recently bought an Intel Centrino Ultimate-6300 WLAN card.

I tried downloading the driver right after installation. When clicked to download, it says 'Installation Blocked: This software package cannot be installed on your system.'

What seems to be the problem here? What can I do?

Has any one here who owns this model installed the intel 6300 WLAN card successfully?

Just go to Intel's website and download the latest driver from their website.
