    Guys, I've been searching everywhere but I can't find a profile for the LG RGB LED Screen.

    Is there still a link or icc file around?

    Thank you

    I have read service manual and reviews to determine M6500's upgrade potential. Please correct me if I'm wrong about my expectations.
    I7-920xm overclockable / 4x8GB RAM / 3x2.5" HDD (1x via ODD) + 1xmSATA / 1xExpresscard + 1xCardbus / 1xmpcie slot (occupied by wlan card).
    What about best vga, Nvidia and AMD, gaming and CAD, respectively? And best matte screen for it?

    I have a query. My brother has this laptop with the i7 920xm. I have m15x with i3 330m. Can I swap the cpus? Will the m6500 take the i3 330m?

    Sorry to tell you this, but I don't think so. Those two CPUs are a different architecture and I don't think they are interchangeable, even though they both use the same PGA988 socket. The i7-920XM is a "Clarksfield" CPU based upon the Nehalem microarchitecture. The i3-330M is an "Arrandale" CPU based upon the Westmere microarchitecture.

    To be honest, the i7-920XM is a better CPU anyway, even though it has a slightly slower clock speed:

    i7-920XM: 2 GHz, 4 cores, 4x256KB L2 cache, 8MB L3 cache
    i3-330M: 2.13 Ghz, 2 cores, 2x256KB L2 cache, 3MB L3 cache

    The best CPU they offered for the M6500 is the i7-940XM (same CPU as i7-920XM, but clocked at 2.13 Ghz). If you had one of those, then yes it could be swapped out because they are the same architecture.

    Intel CPU links:

    ARK | Intel® Core™ i7-920XM Processor Extreme Edition (8M Cache, 2.00 GHz)
    ARK | Intel® Core™ i3-330M Processor (3M Cache, 2.13 GHz)

    Hmm, taking another look at it... they are the same "generation" of Intel mobile CPU, and a quick search about the M15x says that it was available with the i7-920XM CPU... so I guess it's possible the M6500 will run with the i3-330M.

    I'm curious though, why do you want to switch them? Why slow down the M6500?

    A very big thanks to all the contributors to this thread, more recently to both Edge and Dynamite for the the great information shared here. I'm about to take the leap of getting an M6500 920/940XM off the Bay myself and fully load it to maximum specs. I now pretty much have all pertinent information to get this done. I have used the M6500 at work, so I'm pretty familiar with it's functional workings and I've messed around with the internals of laptops too. Really looking forward to having fun with this lil' project.

    @Edge
    - Any developments on the proposed M6500 parts number list? I'm certain it would help me and future enthusiasts looking to go down the same DIY upgrade path. We can all contribute to it once it gets going. Perhaps maybe a shared Google spreadsheet?

    Also, did anyone actually get Bluetooth working on the Intel 7260ac card?

    Many thanks again!

    I too am short of posts to PM.

    @rahasyavadi
    - I know you haven't posted here in a while so I hope you get this. Is the 5000m card still available?
    @DynamiteZerg - Did you ever get this card from rahasyavadi?

    I was on the verge of purchasing the card from him. The last message I got from him, back then, was he is in the midst of moving.

    We agreed on the price and shipping and was about to proceed to payment but then it just went silent.

    Don't worry I never got to pay him as he did not send me his payment details.
