Well if you manage to come up with the secret phrase that gets the M6600 please let me know what it is asap :)

    Hi,

of course I don't know that phrase (yet). But I will try something like:
"I don't accept your offer because the M6500 (or the 3800M) obviously has a flawed design. If you don't agree I'd like to be connected to your direct supervisor or next service tier (escalation department?)."

Depending on how the conversation was prior to this I'd choose more direct or more polite words for this :)

    Cheers,
    Alex

Just wonderingg, did you not ask the exact same confirm of M6600 what you had in M6500.
my laptop is also dead. it's M6500 Covet with similar config.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but did anyone ever figure out a way to calibrate the display for non color managed apps? Like, not have hot glowing pinks on the desktop still even after calibration?

Alex: Well I have a week left to send this thing back so uh get on it. LOL

jaivipin: The phone rep assured me I'd be getting an "identical system, with all the bells & whistles" of my current Covet. LIES AND FABRICATIONS!!

Got woken up this AM by an automated msg from Dell stating the replacement screen is delayed. So not only is it not Edge2Edge, it's got weird dim splotches, dead pixels etc.

Oh, also on the lower right corner of the screen/bezel, there's a black cover over the screw that is missing, so the silver screw is showing.

Also, (lol) of the 2 screws holding the bottom cover on, the right screw hole is stripped, and any screw put in there just falls out again. I noticed after the tech left this last time that there was an xtra screw left over. Good times!

Yes. I figured it out in Jan 2010. Buy a datacolor spyder elite 3 and follow the instructions.

I posted all of it to this thread.

    Hi all,

I am also still on my M6500 and absolutely love it. This thing flies.

One thing over the past couple weeks though... Sometimes.. but not all, the system will not come out of standby. It goes into standby just fine, but coming out, it seems to freeze. I'm guessing this is software related and not hardware, although my Windows 7 x64 install is a relatively recent clean install.

It boots from powered off just fine.

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I have all of the latest drivers, even later than Dell's postings on some.

LOL. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you, but you've just joined the club. That's how The Problem starts. Soon you won't be able to boot to desktop occasionally either.
