Don't trust recommendations of $online_store! Read data sheets instead!

As for your questions, reburns believes right. 750GB is the maximum capacity that you'll get from most manufacturers these days while Samsung is just about to enter the market with the first 9.5mm 1TB drive.

My sister's laptop arrived last Thursday. It was ordered as a refurbished but not "scratch and dent" from the Dell Outlet store. We were expecting to see perhaps a few scratches or normal surface wear which is fine.

But when we unpacked the laptop the lid itself had two dents/creases and one of them was about 4-5" long.

The display is showing horizontal lines in the upper right corner of the screen right where the dent is on the lid. And so I got online just last night and went to Dell chat support. They are sending someone out to replace the lid and display.

Pretty great service. I've used DELL chat in all my previous service requests and I've always been pleased. Although the lid and screen damage should have been caught by Dell before shipping, I'm happy my sister will be getting a non-dented and a working display soon.

    Just wanted to share :)

    Ben

I'd been a little concerned by rising temperatures in my M6500 and since it didn't sell for a decent price that I'd hoped for on ebay I decided to use my warranty and ask dell to service it. It suprised me, they sent a technician to replace the heatsink, motherboard and graphics card. Great!

Firing it back up, now runs smooth and clean with little heat. Only on closer inspection I realise that he has scratched the lid, superficially, but I had kept it immaculate and there is some sort of damage or dirt on the inside of the rgb screen. Only the size of a gnat, but I spent hundreds to have a high quality screen which has now been blemished. Not sure how he did it as though he took the screen off the computer he didn't crack it open, so far as I saw. Nevertheless it's there and it wasn't before hand.

So I got back in touch with dell. At this point I must send photos of the damage and I realise my SD slot is no longer working, so I ask them to fix this alos, they said they're now talking to the contracter they employ in this area to establish a course of action. I asked for a timescale and they wouldn't give me one (I have nbd extended warranty and accident cover), I think they were kindof suggesting they didn't want to carry the buck for their contractor so it depends how long it takes them to communicate with them.

I hope they phone tommorow and sort this out asap. I would have been very pleased with their service if it were not for this hiccup. I do want to preserve the resale value of the computer and I feel that although the scratches are superficial they will diminish the value. It's a shame, the engineer was a nice guy, but I find it increadibly frustrating that he came to fix the computer and damaged it at the same time...

Well, I guess I will see what happens tomorrow.

Here's a capture of what I'm talking about, with four windows open using aero transparency. At the top, it's hard to see which window is which or which on is active. Normally, aero blurs and darkens the information from the inactive windows underneath the active one.

    Reburns,

what happens if you adjust the color intensity?

strange though, even with transparency activated you should still have a haze or fog when looking through the top window frame at windows that are below it and inactive. The active window frames should never really be fully transparent as yours are.

But if you are also getting artifacts left on your screen with transparancy turned off then I'd consider getting some Dell chat support to replace your video card perhaps or somthing along those lines.

Here is a fulls screen shot of my display but I could not reproduce the complete transparacy of what you are seeing with the window frames even when I tried. Granted, this screen shot is from my 17" Macbook Pro laptop running windows (i didn't bring my m6500 with me this morning to the office).

    Hi, just for clarification:

There is SATA (1.5 Gps), SATA II (3Gps), and SATA III (6Gps)

Our m6500 laptops are SATA II (3G). Although they can operate with a Sata III (6G) drive but those III drives full benifit would not be seen with the Sata II controllers that are in our M6500 laptops.

Hi - looking for roller bag advice. I have a Wenger that my old M6300 fits in, barely. New M6600 will NOT fit. Anyone have specific experience with a bag and the M6600?
