    A question, what is the slot{looks like it is for an SD Card] in the battery compartment area?

    This slot is for a SIM card if you have WWAN card installed ... with this you can access internet and phone services within GSM/3G network ...

    Sorry for quoting a signature:

    Hi,

    I noticed that you use PC1600 RAM. Does the M6500 really use 1600MHz or is it still on 1333 (if you don't know just check it with cpu-z)? What's the latency? Which brand do you use? I'm thinking about Kingston HyperX.

    Thanks in advance.
    Alex

    Recently had to send my M6400 (qx9300) in for warranty as the baby spilled milk on it. I was surprised that Dell sent a M6500 with a 940xm as the replacement. I also expected it to be a refurbished unit but it's brand new.
    Is this Dell's standard policy for complete care coverage or ymmv?

    Just a Comment FWIW;

    I changed the motherboard on my M6500, from a two memory slots to a 4 memory slot{had BIOS A02 on the 4 slot board] installed a i7 640m cpu. Received a error message before OS loaded, was some this like "CPU not supported". Load OS{with out issue] went online download BIOS A06 and installed and re-booted. Now no error message, this is good.

    Next test will be will all four slots be seen with the 640M cpu.

    Yes, I have read on this forum that it is not possible.

    I will find out if BIOS A06 is different.

    Regards

    Joseph

    I don't remember if I posted it in this thread before, but on the 8740w, an Arrandale will recognize 4 DIMM slots... but only up to 16 GB.
